Meet Irena, a real catty girl from Serbia.

Cat People was the original film that was made forty years later into a sleazy remake filled with more issues than Time magazine. This is the original horror film filled with many expressionism influenced imagery and film noir overtones.  A young woman from Serbia named Irena a fashion designer who comes to America to fulfill her career. She meets a nice man named Oliver who falls for her hard and marries her. But the young lady has so many strange quirks that they drive Oliver up the wall.  She doesn't want to consummate the marriage and she has a very catty jealous streak.  Oliver seeks help from a shrink and his hot co-worker Alice but that seems to make matters only worse.  What kind of secret does Irena hide from Oliver?  How will Irena react when she catches him talking to Alice?  What will Oliver do to save his marriage?  You'll have to check out Cat People.

A suspense horror film that clocks in over an hour.  The remake would be faithful for the most part but it's pretty far out there.  If you like 40's old school suspense/horror films then you'll want to watch Cat People.  Followed by Curse of the Cat People.

Have you read Kiss of the Spider Woman?  I had to watch Cat People after reading that book because the book's protagonist was absolutely obssessed with the movie, and actually spent a big part of the book describing Cat People's plot in great detail.  He greatly analyzed the movie, which actually helped me understand it more, and managed to make the movie sound way more intriguing that it actually is.  Read it if you haven't already!  Thanks for the review! :)

**** out of ****    As much as I love a good movie monster; I really do miss the days when producers either didn't have the money to show their grotesque creations of the imagination in full or just decided not to, as it was a semi-popular trend amongst less financially fortunate or creative filmmakers to keep the monster in the darkness, waiting to pounce. I've always and always will be strongly opinionated on the matter; I think what we conjure up in our own minds is often …
