Curious George is an interesting cartoon for preschool aged kids. This show follows the different adventures of George the monkey, who lives with the man with a yellow hat. He often gets into troublesome situations and/or is trying to solve problems. This particular DVD contains episodes that are themed about Curious George encountering other animals.
The first episode is called "Zoo Night." In this episode George goes to the zoo to see the baby panda and when he gets locked in and lost he has to find his way out. As part of finding his way out he also ends up having to put the animals back in the right enclosures. This episode contains several different animal appearances, as it is set at the zoo, including penguins and bats.
The second episode is called "Curious George's Bunny Hunt." In this episode one of George's neighbors gets bunnies. George has trouble being patient waiting a day to pet the bunnies and ends up releasing them on accident and having to get them all back in the bunny hutch.
The third episode is called "Bee is for Bear". This episode is about bees and a bear. In the episode George is afraid of bees after getting stung. Also, in the episode he spots a bear and others do not really believe him since they have not been seen in the area for many years.
The fourth episode is called "Curious George's Home for Pigeons". This episode is about pigeons. In the episode there is a pigeon hanging out on the porch and to make him more comfortable George makes him an interesting fake tree while at the same time making a mess.
The fifth episode is called "From Scratch". This episode is about George using the scientific process to prove a cat did not make scratches in the booths at an Italian restaurant. It is an interesting way of teaching viewers about observation and testing an hypothesis.
The sixth episode is called "Curious George, Dog Counter." In the episode George finds the dog show kind of boring and when he gets home he finds he cannot remember all the dogs to tell the man in the yellow hat about them. Thus he ends up kidnapping the dogs to help him remember them and tell the man about all of them.
The seventh episode is called "Squirrel for a Day." In this episode George tries to solve the issue of not having enough cabinet space for all their food by burying it like squirrels do. He learns that it is not the right method for storing everything and not everything you bury will grow. The funniest moment is him daydreaming a rubber band will grow into a tube to float in water on if he buries it.
The eighth episode is called "Curious George Discovers the 'Poles." This episode is about George learning about the way tadpoles becomes frogs when he can no longer find the tadpoles.
Overall this is a great DVD for preschoolers. For one it actually sticks to its theme, which is something I often do not see when watching kid's television show DVDs. Also, it has some interesting bonus features including the Daily Donuts Game, Magic Numbers Game, and Printable Coloring Pages (this last one is a DVD-ROM feature, which I found confusing to try and open on a Mac).
