Whose moronic idea was it to do a remake of a film that just came out 3 years earlier? Stick with the original film. It's funnier & smarter.

I refuse to even see this one since I enjoyed the original so much. There should be at least a 20 year grace period between remakes, and only then if there is actually a good reason to remake it.

I figure a 10 year period between remakes is sufficient, but as you point out that's only if there's a good reason to do a remake to begin with. The first film was as close to perfection as it could come and doing an American remake just seems like the stupidest thing I can think of. I mean, maybe a remake would be warranted if the original film had been in a foreign language, but the cast was British and American! What, do American audiences no longer recognize the English language spoken by English people?! And then people wonder why I begrudge Hollywood film studios...

   I saw the original Death at a Funeral when it played at our local theater. I liked it, but I liked this remake even better. While the scenarios are almost identical, the cultural differences between the two families made them feel like completely different films. It was a stroke of genius on the part of director Neil LaBute (In the Company of Men, Lakeview Terrace, and the unfortunate The Wicker Man remake, that was completely unnecessary), to recast Peter Dinklage as the uninvited …
