Dragonball Z - Bio Broly: Broly... What did they do to you?

Android 18 is demolishing Mr. Satan's home with intentions on making him pay up 18 million zenny, for her throwing the fight to him during the World Tournament, which he would eventually go on to win. An old rival then appears issuing Satan a challenge to battle against his Bio-Warriors. Satan accepts to go and battle on their island, 18 hitches a ride to make sure she collects, and Goten and Trunks sneaks along just because. They soon make it to the lair of a man named Jaguar, who not only presents them with a horde of warriors to face, but also a revived Broly seeking more destruction. -summary

Well, the dismantlement of Broly continued with yet another horrid entry into the DBZ line up, and it's really sad too, when considering Broly was a character with so much potential. He was easily the most interesting character since Frieza, and he had this certain charisma about him that seemed to disappear with each sequel. Bio-Broly is the eleventh movie in the series. It's the direct sequel to Broly: The Second Coming, and even though it's not the worst in terms of quality. It just might be the most worthless and poorly written in the line up. In addition, even though the writers try to tie this one into the main series, there's just no way it can possibly fit.

Now the movie does surpass the last sequel in terms of action only. The action segments are nothing to brag about, but they're not horrible either, plus they're well dispersed through out. The animation has some decent choreography once in awhile, sadly, that's about the only good thing I can think about. The character designs are rather bad for the Bio-Warriors, and nothing seems to stand out. Broly's new design was just so awful to look at, I mean wow. I also couldn't get into the BGM much either, the music was boring and it really didn't help matters.

I couldn't stop scratching my head with this horrible story. I just about hopped out of my seat when I first saw this movie. I couldn't understand using the shaman from the last movie in such a big role here, who probably didn't even have ten minutes of screen time total. I also wondered how he learned so much about Saiyans, much less the Legendary Super Saiyan, along with his name. I thought the Saiyans were a secret from everybody, and because of this, I found the story nearly impossible to buy into. I also couldn't get over Trunks pulling off Goku's signature move the Kamehameha Wave. I mean he should have been pulling off his father's move the Galik Gun, and Broly is just horribly written here. Seriously, Number 18 is the only one in this movie I find tolerable. She clearly wears the pants in the marriage with Krillin, and I found her dominance when giving orders, plus selling her services to Mr. Satan to be downright hilarious.

When looking at the bright side, at least the Broly chapter is finally over, and the next two movies in the franchise are very watchable. In fact, I remember them being pretty good. If you're not a fan of DBZ, then you can leave this alone forever. If you are, then it should be seen only for completion sake.

Pros:
-Android 18

Cons:
-Just about everyone else

It was actually better than the 2nd. But that's not saying much.

This one I think I saw on Cartoon Network....I am impressed how you are still able to write a balanced review even when you hated it...

Thanks man. The last thing I want is for my reviews to come off like I need anger managment classes, even though series like High School of the Dead and Hell Girl have driven me close to rages. This right here though was a very bad DBZ movie to me. I mean just wow, and I don't even consider it the worst.

Pros: Yay Krillin!     Cons: Haha, the plot, c'mon.     The Bottom Line: Meh, it's something to watch if you're feelin' like a lil DBZ without Goku, Vegeta and the boys...     Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot. Hmm, after this I’ll just have movie #4 to review. *clenches fist* Then my plans to cover all of the world of DBZ will be complete! Er, ahem.      Note to those of you …
