Ghostbusters! Directed by Ivan Reitman of Meatballs Starring Dr. Spengler (Harold Ramis) Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd) and Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) Co-starring Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) Janine Melnitz (Annie Potts) Louis Tully (Rick Moranis) and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) is about four parapsychologists trying to rid New York of ... you guessed it, ghosts. This single movie produced some of the most used references today. And one of the most recognizable icons of the mid-eighties ... Slimer, A green blob ghost. This movie is quite charming and funny. The movie starts with three out-of-work scientists who form Ghostbusters in an abandoned fire station. From there they catch ghosts in hotels, subway stations, and a host of other locations. All leading up to a battle with Gozer (Slavitza Jovan). Gozer offers the Ghostbusters a choice: to choose the form of their doom. After clearing their minds, Ray thinks of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. This has become another icon created by this movie. Realizing their proton packs won't stop him, they decide to "cross the streams" I'll end my description there, but don't let my score of 4-stars fool you, this is an iconic movie that everyone will enjoy.

They are already in the process of making Ghostbusters 3...it won't be a remake, but a completely new film.

Another great example of the creativity that was rampant in the 1980s. I expect to hear their remaking this any day now.

Bill Murray in his prime and a classic eighties comedy. I agree on the amazing number of references and great lines that came from this movie.

Up until now, Ghostbusters had topped the list of movies I was ashamed that I had not seen. But thankfully I am ashamed no more, because I saw Ghostbusters and its awesome. Some may think 100% is a little much, but you watch it and say it doesn't deserve it. Ghostbusters was definitely one of the best movies to come out of the eighties and probably one of the most influential movies of all time, at least in terms of in-jokes in other things. It has all the elements of a great supernatural comedy. …

This is what a comedy movie should be about! Four "shysters" that pawn themselves off as "experienced" experts in battling psychic phenomena, defeat a "real" ghost through hair-brained luck and nuclear technology. They set up an agency that makes house calls to rid people of any supernatural baddies that may be lurking in their homes. Eventually, the evil starts to build in the top of an old creepy looking apartment building. Harold Ramis, Rick Moranis, and Dan Ackroyd are hilarious! Bill Murray …

Ghostbusters (titled on-screen as Ghost Busters) is a 1984 science-fiction comedy film written by co-stars Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis about three eccentric New York City parapsychologists-turned-ghost exterminators. The film was released in the United States on June 8, 1984 and like several films of the era, teamed Aykroyd and/or Ramis with headliner Bill Murray. It was produced and directed by Ivan Reitman, who also directed Stripes, and stars Murray, Aykroyd, Ramis, Rick Moranis, Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts, and Ernie Hudson. With inflation adjustments, the film's original release grossed over $500 million US dollars counting sales in just the U.S., making it domestically one of the highest-grossing films of 1984 and also domestically the 31st highest-grossing film.[2]

It was followed by a sequel, Ghostbusters II (1989), and two animated television series, The Real ...
