Not too bad, but they could have done more

I liked it, but they could have done more. My favorite movies are those where characters act realistically, and where there is good logic/sequence to the movie. This movie fails a little bit in both, IF she is actually able to travel back and forth through time in her mind. However, I have an explanation for that.

Overall, I think that Bullock's character was committed because she had suffered a mental breakdown- the trauma of seeing her husband killed.

My explanation of the entire timeline is that Bullock had indeed a strong premonition of her husband's death, that was recurring, perhaps not to the clarity that the movie was providing. However, the premonition was strong enough for her to act in the way that she had.

The effect of her actions caused her to realize the love that existed between her husband bad herself, something that was only just rescued because of the premonitions she had. This was the goal of the ending, the whole speech about faith, blah blah blah.

Following the scene where she saw his death, she underwent severe psychological trauma, that caused her to remember the timelines in a different way (i.e., by the end of the movie). The trauma caused by watching her husband die caused her to leave the scene of the crime and forget about what had happened, and then proceed through the next days.

I am fine with a lot of her actions (again, based on my interpretation, because as others have noted here, If I could go back and forth for real, I definitely would have done things differently to prevent my spouse's death).

I am fine with the fact that she wasn't questioned in the accident (psycho trauma) and that the officer, then, has no idea that she had been a witness to it.

In spite of all this, I can't stand the whole thing about the cuts in the daughter's face. She doesn't have them on Wednesday.  But the whole thing is just dumb. Why would the daughter run into the sliding door?  And it absolutely had no real value to the overall plot, except to freak us out and sidetrack us a little.

The movie could have been more. Overall it wasn't bad.

This movie came out about the same time as another film called Deja Vu. Both films dealt with time travel to some degree and centered around preventing a death. This movie doesn't quite measure up to the other film.     It takes place over a week, however the days occur out of sequence. Sandra Bullock goes to sleep with a seemingly happy family of two girls and a husband. She wakes up to find that her husband died during an out of town trip that she doesn't remember. She then …

This movie disappointed me   I thought it really sad   Though Sandra Bullock was okay   The screenplay's pretty bad     The movie shows parallel times   But with a quirky twist   Successive days don't seem to match   But yet they coexist     Some scenes they just threw in the mix   To make the movie longer   They fail to move the plot along   Or make it any stronger    &nb …

Premonition
'Premonition' is a suspense film that scores a little low on the suspense-o-meter. Linda Hanson (the fabulously talented Sandra Bullock) and her husband Jim (Julian McMahon from Nip/Tuck) have a happy life. Nice home, two beautiful daughters, and a loving marriage. Then Jim dies in a car accident, leaving Linda trying to cope with her loss.     But, when she wakes up the next morning, Jim is alive again, just like his death never happened. But Linda remembers everything from …

Pros: Well there werenÂ’t any...     Cons: Convoluted, puzzling, stupid plot, fuzzy direction.     The Bottom Line: In the final analysis Premonition is a confusing, head scratching (I know redundant term) mess, a riddle, wrapped inside a puzzle that cannot be solved, at least by this reviewer.     Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie''s plot. Now I consider myself a pretty intelligent guy; rocket scientist no …

Pros: interesting subject, solid characters      Cons: chaotic pacing, drama billed as thriller      The Bottom Line: If you were given a chance to change one event in your life, would you take the chance?      Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie''s plot. Linda (Sandra Bullock) and Jim Hanson (Julian MacMahon) have a good marriage. Their home is warm and inviting, and their children are playful, intelligent …

Her husband's dead - or is he? Her daughter has a bloody accident, but when? She wakes up knowing her husband's dead, only to hear him in the shower. So what's going on with this poor woman? You'll have to watch this movie several times before you can figure it out, which I've never been able to do. Premonition is sort of the dark side of Ground Hog Day- deja vu all over again. Every character in it is without warmth, with the exception of the wife and kids. Whether or not anything psychic is going …

Sandra Bullock has the keen sensitivity to pick up some roles that she thinks she can create a niche and leave a mark of her acting skills. That is what interests me to see her movies. In "Premonition" - a time-tripping attempt to do for marital malaise what "Groundhog Day" did for commitment-phobia - a bored housewife named Linda (Sandra Bullock) wakes up one day, like any other day, and goes about her daily routine. She makes breakfast, takes the kids to school, jogs, does laundry - the usual. …

Relative newcomers, writer Bill Kelly and director Mennan Yapo, have concocted a testy little conundrum of a movie titled PREMONITION: whether the audience decides to step into their little nightmare or reject the premise that powerful emotions can drive the brain to peculiar directions of functioning will be the divisive break in acceptance of the film's premise. It is a fairly well done, thought provoking experience and is carried by some better than average performances by a strong cast.    T …

Sometimes I'm amazed at how differently people can see the same thing. One person detests a work that another finds fresh and amazing.    Go figure.    I like Sandra Bullock. So I think I'm looking at Premonition through that mindset. I also love suspense and twisty plots. Bullock plays a solid character like she does in each of her films - a woman facing circumstances with varying degrees of self-control and courage. Linda reminded me of Bullock's character …
