A one of a kind movie.. that I've seen anyhow..

I first saw Run Lola Run in a social studies class in high school... and let me just say, it blew me away. I can't remember ALL the details of this movie, but here's the quick run down.

Lola needs to get money for her boyfriend, Manni. This movie shows three 20 minute "clips" - each of her doing the same thing: running out of her house, past people in her neighborhood, trying to get the money for her boyfriend.

However, in each of these clips, there are slight differences in the people she runs into that makes all the difference in the world.  When she was a couple of seconds slower due to a dog that tripped her and made her limp, she ends up at her father's bank a little later than she would have been, then ends up stealing the money from her fathers bank.

When she was a few moments quicker because the dog was chasing her, she ends up asking her father for the money and he refuses, so she ends up assisting Manni in the robbery and gets shot when the police get there.

In the third clip, Lola ends up missing her father completely and going to a casino to win more than enough money for Manni.....then Manni's spots the homeless man who has stolen his money and gets the money back...just as Lola comes up to with her bag of money she sees Manni delivering the retrieved money to his boss.

The movie is quick, each portion only 20 minutes, but you REALLY get to see how you life could be infinitely different based on the smallest events that do or do not happen each day.  If an ambulance crosses when your light is green, your day is slowed down by 10 seconds... 10 seconds that COULD possibly alter your entire day.  If you happen to leave your coat by the door so you don't have to go back into your room to grab it, you speed your day up by 30 seconds.. which could mean you make it pass the train tracks before the train comes and you have to wait 10 mintues, which means you'll get to work before the parking lot is full, whcih means you can get to your really important meeting on time when you can put in your input that gets you a promotion! I know, a little over the top, but it really made me think about like every action I did for the rest of that day and how it could affect me!

Good movie.. keeps your attention too since it's so short

The first time I saw this movie was back in high school. My German teacher played it for the class with the subtitles covered up (I think). It's a really fun movie & I now own it on DVD. Oh, and a bit of trivia, Lola is played by Franka Potente (the girl from Bourne Identity).

Thanks to Scotman I saw this film.  Lola with the blazing red hair gets a desperate call from her boyfriend Mani.  Apparently, his 100,000 German Marks (before the Euro) that was due to a very mean person was lost on a train and picked up by a homeless man.  If Mani doesn't come up with the money in 20 minutes, he will be very dead.  He tells Lola he will probably rob a store.  She tells him to wait for her and she will think of something.      So …

About this movie

Run Lola Run
is a 1998 German film about a girl Lola who needs to get 100,000 Deutsche Marks in order to save her Manni's (her boyfriend) life.

When Lola receives the phone call from Manni explaining that he needs to get the money to his boss within 20 minutes so he can avoid his punishment, Lola decides to take the task on herself and ask her father for the money.

The movie shows three different scenarios of what Lola has to encounter that morning when she tries to get the money for her boyfriend. Each of these scenarios are very similar, yet the people and instances that Lola runs into differ immensely.
