Pros: The cast, scenery, script, choreography

Cons: Continuity in a certain area...

Okay, I'm a cheeseball. I know it. I love slapstick comedies, stupid comedies, comedies with class, you name it. If the movie is well done, I'll be the first to tell you. If it sucked worse than a vacuum, I'll tell you that, too.

I really, really, really liked this movie.

It's not one of my favorites, but I rally did enjoy it. I went to see it with a friend of mine. It was perfect, because he's an aspiring singer and I'm an aspiring actress. Plus, we've got a "Superstar!" joke between us. We laughed all throughout this movie.

In short, Mary Catherine Gallagher is a soft-spoken, nerdy student in a Catholic high school. She wants, more than anything else in the world, to become a superstar. So, against her grandmother's wishes, she auditions for and gets accepted in the school's talent show. After a fight with a cheerleader named Evian, Mary Catherine gets put in a "special" class. She, with her grandmother's help, lead the class to victory in the talent show. Mary Catherine finally gets to go to Hollywood, because she is a SUPERSTAR!

There are lots and lots of subplots here. I don't want to go into them because I don't want to ruin the entire movie for you. Molly Shannon was hysterical as Mary Catherine (she makes out with a tree!) and Will Ferrell was great as snobby Sky (he makes out with Mary!).

I'm a stickler for continuity. Something I caught immediately in one scene is that Mary Catherine blesses herself with the wrong hand! Why this wasn't caught, I have no idea... It's done very slow, too. To change the way you bless yourself for the camera angle is pretty pathetic, and so wrong when it comes to continuity. Someone should have been paying a little more attention.

It's a great cast, cute story, and filled with a lot of funny lines. Long live the underdog!

Poor Mary Katherine Gallagher! She's the most unpopular girl at St Monica's school, she's a klutz and has a habit of kissing trees and stop signs. But, she's a SUPERSTAR!Molly Shannon (NEVER BEEN KISSED) takes her beloved "Saturday Night Live" character to the big screen in this cute, hilarious comedy. When Catholic Teen Magazine sponsors a talent contest at St Monica's, Mary Katherine feels sure that she will win, and get to kiss super-dancer school stud Skye Corrigan (Will Ferrell). However, there's …
