AN OLD 1975 FILM I HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN - A HEART BREAKER

I saw this film back in the day when it first came out on television, and it was a movie I have never forgotten or actually completely got over. It came out in 1975 and stars Linda Blair and Martin Sheen.

Sheen is an escaped mental patient, Blair lives on a farm and is illiterate. He kidnaps her and takes her to some place up in the mountains. She tries to escape, she does what she can to get away from him as any normal hostage would do, such as using trickery, but to no avail.

Even though he's a nut, Sheen captivates your interest because he doesn't want to harm her it seems; rather, he takes an interest in teaching her to read. Why is it called Sweet Hostage? Because they end up falling in love. (If you are turned off by romance films, you would still love this movie!) - it does not have sickening romantic scenes in it at all; instead the whole movie is filled with emotion and drama; enough to make it unforgettable. Even you guys out there would find this movie tugging at your heart strings.

Blair plays her part perfectly with a southern accent, and Sheen was absolutely brilliant playing his character. This movie, I remember, had action in it; you never knew what was going to happen next, and it turned out to be a TOTAL tear-jerker and heart breaker.

Keep in mind, I saw this so many years ago, have not seen it since, but it was memorable enough to make a huge impact on me.

This is a must see --

I do like Blair and I think she was underrated as an actress before. seems like she never got away from the Regan thing from the Exorcist. Kinda hard when one reaches their peak on their earliest movies. Nice one as always!

Yeah, so many actors get caught in their main role and it's hard for them to break out of it. She was so different in this one, you'd never believe she was possessed at one time! LOL
