A Quick Tip by Madpenguin
When I come into films, comics, games, or anything I greatly enjoyed on my first run through. There's always that uneasy feeling my second serving will leave me wondering, "what the hell did I see in this?. After picking up the Avengers on DVD and giving it another watch I can say my original feelings are still the same. I enjoyed the movie every bit on my second watch as I did on my first.
Michael Bay really should take notes so he can learn how to carry a plot. The pacing is outstanding, the characters are developed well enough, and most importantly, the action scenes and special effects are still awesome. Josh Whedon also knows how to work in comedy without it ever feeling forced.
The best thing about Avengers is that it doesn't try to be anything more than a superhero movie; all the cerebral stuff is left on the cutting room floor which makes the 143 minute run time feel incredibly short.
If you seen other superhero movies such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, or even Green Lantern and enjoyed them; then you'll more than likely enjoy this too. If you're looking for something super-intellectual to review and dissect proving how smart you are to the entire world, then more than likely you should skip it.
