This is a Ben Stiller movie with a difference! This time, he's not an unlikeable, whiny, obnoxious, accident-prone loser, but an unlikeable, whiny, obnoxious loser, with an accident-prone wife. BIG difference!

Short Attention Span Summary (SASS)

1. Boy has commitment issues
2. Boy meets girl during purse-snatching incident (her purse, not his)
3. Boy listens to advice from hen-pecked best friend and typecast real-life dad (truth being stranger than fiction, blood being thicker than getting than another actor)
4. Boy marries girl
5. Girl has issues bigger than boy's issues (Impossible, but true)
6. Boy meets girl while on Mexican honeymoon
7. Usual Stiller shenanigans follow
8. Boy still has commitment issues

Recommended for fans of foul-mouthed slapstick, unfunny situations and the Stiller father-son duo, but not for anybody else. One extra point given for the soundtrack.

Talk about a movie that takes you, spins your head around in circles and dumps you all over the place the Heartbreak Kid breaks a lot of rules of film making and comedy and does it well. It tells the story of a single guy Ben Stiller who is unable to find a woman, his sex obsessed father (played by his father Jerry) and his best pal Mac who are all looking to get him married off. The movie starts to get you invested in his plight as he goes from embarrassment …

Ben Stiller steps in with the Farrelly brothers one more time in "The Heartbreak Kid." It's the story of Eddie (Stiller), an unmarried and seemingly unlucky in love man who's just attended his ex-girlfriend's wedding. He's humiliated at the wedding by being placed at the "singles" table (kid's table) and made fun of indirectly during the toasts at the reception. A few days later he has a run-in with a purse snatcher and meets Lila (Malin Akerman). The two eventually become a couple. After much coaching …

Pros: Ben Stiller and a good premise. Cons: Jokes are to far apart, film drags. The Bottom Line: Despite the best efforts of Stiller and the cast, this is one film that should never have been remade. Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie''s plot. It has been almost ten years since Ben Stiller teamed with the Farrelly brothers for the comedy classic “There’s Something About Mary”, which …

About this movie

The Farrelly Brothers add their trademark bounty of bodily functions to this remake of Elaine May's 1972 comedy, THE HEARTBREAK KID. This time around Ben Stiller plays Eddie Cantrow, a 40-year-old bachelor who is tired of having his foulmouthed father (Jerry Stiller) and henpecked friend (Rob Corddry) give him a hard time for not being married. So when he meets the seemingly perfect Lila (Malin Ackerman), he decides to marry her--despite knowing her for only six weeks. On their honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, he realizes his mistake when Lila reveals her true colors, which turn out to be quite ugly. While Lila recovers from a sunburn, Eddie meets fellow vacationer Miranda (Michelle Monaghan) and falls in love. He must break the news to both women before they find out the truth.

After the more standard romantic comedy of FEVER PITCH, Bobby and Peter Farrelly are back to the gross-out comedy that made them famous in films such as THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY. This is the first time they've ...
