An interesting psychological thriller with several layers of story and drama.

The Jacket is a very good movie that surprised me. I was expecting another cheesy drama masquerading as a horror film. Boy was I wrong. It turned out to be a fine thriller with layers of twists and intrigue. Adrien Brody continues to impress me as an underrated actor who still doesn't receive that much respect from the general public. But I have respecting his work ever since SON OF SAM and his career making role in THE PIANIST. Keira Knightly was perfect in the roles as a chronic drunk in training.
Adrian Brody stars as a 1991 Persian Gulf War veteran. He received a fatal head wound in combat. But he somehow survives his mortal injury and receive's a medal. A couple of years later, he's wandering the back roads of America. One day he helps a mother and daughter with their broken down truck. He gives the girl his dog tags. Hours later he hitches a ride from a mysterious stranger. Miles down the road, they're pulled over by the police. The stranger pulls out his gun and pops a few caps into the stunned trooper. The shocked vet finds himself on the ground next to the dead cop with an empty pistol next to his person. In court he finds himself on murder charges. He's constantly grilled on the stand. But his answers are vague. He just doesn't remember. What really happened? Where does the story go from here? Who's responsible? Why can't he remember? The answers all lie within this movie!
I don't want to spoil the movie for you. But take my advice and give this movie a look. If you want a taste for something different. An overlooked film that needs a second chance. It's real melodramatic and weepy in parts, but it's par for the course. I was surprised by how good this movie was. I hope you grab a copy and check it out
