I want my toys, NOW!!!

Toy Story 3 came alive for me, in more ways than one. It is in ways like many animated movies, it takes human’s characters, personalities, fears and hopes, packaged them into a life-like situation, portrayed it in live on the screens and takes the viewers beyond what is real and surreal. Whether the stars are real or not, as in human beings and living things, is not of utmost importance. What is important is that it embodies human universal values. Afterall, this is a production by humans for humans, is it not?
 
Yet, knowing what we know does not prevent us from having a real interaction. In many movies, we enjoy the show but we hardly interact personally. We know they are there to amuse or to entertain or to even draw out many emotions which we don’t personally deal with on a daily basis. In this one, at least, it draws out something which I hadn’t thought existed for a long long time. It is that childhood attachment we have to our toys, our playthings. There is a favorite toy/s we all hug at night when we were young, and yet, a part of us is still hugging those dolls, in our hearts. And it is precisely that, which I personally think, makes this a very very special movie… for all those who have grown up and have long forgotten about their favorite playmates. It brings one back to his/her innocence and touches that part of the heart that had since moved on.
 
I don’t know about you, but this is one of those rare animated movie that has made me cry. And any movie that is able to make me cry gets the best rating ;-) It cleanses the soul and it brings us closer to our feelings and thoughts. That is the intimacy we all look for in life, is it not?
