Transformers: Dark of the Moon - Bay should play Megatron himself, since he loves destruction.

The Autobots are still working side by side with the military to eliminate the Decepticon threat. After a brief confrontation with Shockwave, Optimus Prime learns of the possible survival of the original Autobot leader Sentinel Prime. Megatron is recovering from his wounds after the last battle, and together with his surviving Decepticons, he puts together his latest plan. Sam (Shia LeBeouf) now has a live-in girlfriend named Carly (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley), plus he's finished college and is looking for a job. But there's something sinister in the works that could decide the fate of the entire world. -summary

Should the day ever come when Michael Bay decides to direct a short movie, I will not complain about it. I don't care what it's lacking; plot, character development, story, action, acting, or every last one of those things. I will just be thankful that there's a movie I can get up and walk around after, instead of feeling like I just lost the use of my legs. Transformers: Dark of the Moon which was released in 2011, is the third and final sequel of the Transformers, and good Lord it's a long movie clocking in at a whopping 155 minutes. I really wouldn't mind this if the movie had a whole lot to say, but come on, this is a movie about robots trying to kill each other. So I see no harm in shortening this.

I'll be honest here. I came into this with high hopes. Fans of the comic would more than likely figure out why... Shockwave, and that was my biggest reason despite all negative criticism from the average movie-goer. Transformers: Dark of the Moon still contains all of the flaws from the previous movies. Fortunately, it's actually better than the last two as it seems to focus on being a darker entity. This is by far the most violent of the three movies, and along with the killer action scenes, it actually makes up for these flaws and delivers a mildly entertaining experience.

The special effects are just so cool, from the action scenes to the random destruction, and believe me, Bay blows up plenty of things this time around. His destructive imagination ran completely wild during the demolition of the city when the Decepticons were trying to kill everyone. I never thought watching high rises being destroyed would look so nice. Plus, the robot vs. robot battles were a little better, to include, the Decepticons directly attacked the humans in graphic detail. The character designs were nice as usual, but Shockwave looked the best and pretty much resembled his comic book and animated series counter parts. The voice acting was't that great this time around. Peter Cullen reprise his role as Optimus Prime and he still sounded great. Unfortunately, I barely even noticed Frank Welker as both Shockwave and Soundwave, and I didn't even notice James Remar as Autobot Sideswipe until he was credited for the role.

The plot was interesting again as it followed the Autobots and Decepticons in their pursuit of Sentinel Prime, and a power source he possessed which would be the key to victory. There was a really good plot twist to take place that really did enhance the story. The story was influenced by multiple storylines of the Transformers mythos from both the animated series and comic book; Megatron's Master Plan, The Ultimate Doom, All Hail Megatron, and Last Stand of the Wreckers. It was nice watching variations of these arcs meshed into one. The acting was pretty good this time around and I think Whiteley was a better love interest than Megan Fox. The girl is smoking hot, and I had no problem when she was on-screen. I didn't really have a problem with Megan either. Shia LeBeouf did a good job here again, even though I didn't like how his character was written during the first half at all.

When the action wasn't taking place during the first half, it moved at a snails pace, and some of the blame was actually due to the character development. Sam does a whole lot of whining, and he's upset about being forgotten despite saving the world twice. At first, I was able to relate to his character, later, he began to remind me of that old friend who got dumped by a chick. When you hear his sad story in the beginning you feel for the guy. 30 minutes or an hour later of hearing the same damn thing, you want to knock him out just to shut him up, that's how I felt about Sam. He became way too annoying. The plot is also saturated with those comedic segments we all have grown to hate long before this. Thankfully, Sam's parents screen time is vastly limited in comparison to the second movie. Sadly, we still get quite a bit of random stupidity from chatty robots.

My biggest disappointment in the movie was no doubt Shockwave. During his appearances, he was the most menacing character in the movie when taken at face value, but he was very poorly developed, in fact, he wasn't developed at all. He reminded me of Dr. Doom from the Fantastic Four movie and that's not a good thing. Where was the cold calculating robot who posed a threat to everyone including Megatron? Instead of focusing on Sam's whiny moments and lame attempts at humor, Shockwave should have been better developed, this way he wouldn't have came off as just another nameless Decepticon. His presence just wasn't felt at all, and they could've pulled anyone out of the pages of Transformers to fill his spot. This also goes for plenty of the robots, the character development was just poor all around. And once again, there was way too much of a military presence during the action scenes. I'm not exactly sure, but I wouldn't doubt if there was at least 30 minutes of non robot vs. robot action. Many times, this did not feel like a Transformers movie.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon could have been so much better. There was potential like crazy but Michael Bay is seriously a weak director, who just cannot execute a truly coherent plot. Transformers ended the same way it began; average with no intentions on going beyond the call of duty. This movie is best taken as nothing but mindless entertainment. I only recommend this to serious action fans and fans of the franchise.

Pros:
-Action and special effects

Cons:
-Some glaring plot issues

Great review and I appreciate it was written by a fan of the Transformers. I still don't want to see it, even though I think you'd like me to, despite your thoughtful but critical analysis.

Thanks for the compliment. Even if I'm a fan of something I have to call things right down the middle. And like I said, unless your're a serious fan of action or the Transformers. I won't even recommend messing with it.

Great review. Very well written. Still hate Shia

Waiting for the rental on this one, great review.

You should just go and see it man. You might really like it.

I see you've finally decided to see it. Shockwave is pretty cool and great catch on those references...I kept trying to jog my memory about it....it was "Megatron's Master Plan". I heard some folks say this was better in 3D, but I dunno. The one big issue I have with this movie is the editing; gosh, it was just so boring when there were no fights. I gave this one a half star than the first sequel. Very nice job. Coffee and then I am off to read your other reviews...you got the major badges for reviewing these movies. Not a fan of Harry Potter? I saw the latest film, just so...you know. It turned out pretty good.

BAYGATRON LOL!

Yeah, I just had to peep it. And Shockwave was a disappointment. He's not just another robot and that's exactly how he looked to me. And thanks on the storylines, I think Bay did a great job exploiting All Hail Megatron. The violence against the humans was much worse in the comic and I was surprised to see he even went that far. And nah man, I'm not a fan of Harry Potter. For some reason it just never held my interest. I might give them a shot one of these days. But I'm definitely seeing Captain America. I liked the trailer.
July 17, 2011
yeah, I know what you mean. I really wanted to like this but I just cannot stand Shia and the script on this flick was still filled with missteps and holes. I liked the last few movies of the Potter series, and the last two turned out pretty well. I guess it was because it became darker...PG13 dark, but still darker. Not a fan of the Potter series either but I think that just stemmed from me not really into family movies.

I am trying to get time off for Capt. America, I may review one of my favorite storylines on him to 'hype up' the movie.
July 17, 2011
Shia really didn't bother me, it was just the way his character was written. It really didn't have to be like that. I was also thinking about hitting up another Capt A story. I'm really interested in seeing where they go with that.

Too Much Excessive, Inane Issues Hamper The Potential Gritty Appeal of The Robot Fights...
Allow me to re-elaborate how I felt about the first two films in the “Transformers” saga directed by Michael Bay and co-produced by Steven Spielberg. I know that the films were never faithful to the cartoon series nor to the 80’s comic books, but we have to remember that those two installments were made to promote a toy line from Hasbro and so all three films have the label “based on the Hasbro toys“ and this trilogy of films were made to sell more toys. The first …

There is something to admire about Michael Bay.  He makes the movies he wants to make and doesn't care what the critics or anyone else thinks.  He knows exactly what his fans want and always manages to deliver on that front.  There is something quite admirable about a man who wants to simply sit back and make senseless movies.  That's actually not an insult, it's a compliment.  That doesn't mean I like Michael Bay movies, but it does mean that I have no big …

Delivering a much-needed shot of adrenaline to the summer movie season, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon", arrives awash in stunning visuals and cutting-edge 3-D.     The movie picks up a few years after the events of the last film, as Sam (Shia LaBeouff), is struggling to adjust to his post college life. Despite the fact that he has been honored by the president for his heroic actions in the two previous films, Sam finds himself like many graduates, unable to find a job in today's …

If there is one thing that must be said first in this review, it is that this film is the equivalent of The Godfather compared to its predecessor. That being said, I actually enjoyed this movie, and not just in the dumb-fun action movie kind of way. Sure, it falls into the same holes that all Michael Bay movies fall into, namely a weak script, thin characters, and a runtime that overstays its welcome. The main character's parents are also back (though for a mercifully short amount of screentime) …

Now, I'm a girl.    So I could care less about Sam's new sugah mommy and how despite running around in rubble still looks relatively clean to compared to the boys around her.     Like Megan Fox she's just kinda there. She doesn't add anything to the movie and I honestly forgot she was in the movie.    I'm one of those people that can separate a good movie, from a movie that makes me feel good.    Transformers 3 isn't …

As the Transformers movies went on, they got better and better each time for one reason, the humans got pushed to the background and we got to see more Transformers, more action and more excitement.  The first movie took it's damn time getting the Transformers out there with only glimpses of them here and there before a great action finale.  The second one, while maligned by many for many good reasons of too much comic relief, creaky story telling and broad racial stereotypes at least …

Dark of the Moon was one of the most anticipated summer movies because it announced the closing, the ending, the final venture of this human and alien robots story. The last movie was pretty much acknowledged as a total catastrophe by the critics and cinephiles around the globe even though it scored highly at the box-office (like that really matters when judging quality). It was built on pure non-sense defining the point-less action movies of this generation. However, everyone turned …

Star Rating:         Why are they still making these movies? If you even think of coming back at me with, “Because they make money,” you no longer have permission to read my reviews. Even escapist movies that require no thought and have no message to send deserve good characters and decent dialogue, and they should at the very least be entertaining. Is that really so hard? For Michael Bay and his crew, especially his screenwriters, the answer is apparently …

I don't believe Michael Bay has ever met a special effect he didn't like or an object he didn't want to blow up. For those fans of Michael Bay you are gonna get more of the same, maybe even a little darker than his attempts before. For those of you who are fans of non-stop action and that is all you need from a movie than by all means stop reading here and enjoy the film. I am not a Michael Bay fan and maybe that bias gets in the way, but good lord was this a dumb movie.   …

Transformers-Dark Of The Moon' 'Two Jews On Film' Are On Different Planets With This One (Video)
By Joan Alperin Schwartz      'Transformers - Dark Of The Moon' presented in 3D is directed by Michael Bay.      First, I'll start with the good stuff.  And yes, there is 'good stuff'.  In fact, I think this is the best 'Transformers' of the series...which may or may not be saying much...depending on how you felt about the other two.      Here it goes...In no particular order...What I liked …

About this movie

Wiki

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is the third and final film in the Transformers film series, directed by Michael Bay and produced by Steven Spielberg. It is the sequel to Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and is scheduled for release on July 1, 2011, in Real D 3D, regular 2D theaters and IMAX.[1]

Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro are set to reprise their starring roles, with Peter Cullen returning as the voice of Optimus Prime. Ehren Kruger, who collaborated in the writing of the second film, was said to be again involved in the writing. Despite having initially been confirmed for the film,[2] and with the film already into principal photography, it was announced that Megan Fox would not be reprising her role from the previous two films. With Fox's character Mikaela being dropped, Sam was assigned a new love interest, who will be played by English model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Also, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, having written the first two films, will not return for the third installment in the series,[3] which Orci had earlier somewhat anticipated, fearing the duo would "risk getting stale".[4] Bay has stated this would be his last installment in the series.[5]
