A Quick Tip by Count_Orlok_22
Unfortunately, unlike his exhilarating revenge/rescue film Taken, this rather predictable and derivative action film starring Liam Neeson has little to offer in the way of originality or believability. The plot is outrageously silly and is very much reminiscent of The Fugitive and The Bourne Identity.
The story revolves around a man who comes to Germany with his wife to attend a scientific summit only to end up being involved in a car crash. When he comes to from a coma, he finds to his utter amazement and disbelief that the woman he thought was his wife acts as though she's never met him before and she is now accompanied by a man who bears the same name, occupation, and knows all of his life details. Enlisting the aid of a foreign taxi driver, he must trace the mystery of his true identity and uncover a conspiracy before it's too late.
The acting isn't bad, but it's not great either. A number of the performances, particularly those of Neeson and co-star Frank Langella, come off as wooden and two dimensional.
Some of the action scenes are fun, but again, they lack originality and will only remind people of other thrillers. The same can also be said for the look and sound of the film. It almost gives one the impression that somewhere there is a warehouse full of screenwriters, directors, cinematographers, fight choreographers, and music composers who all are forced to conform to generic genre formulas.
Like I said earlier, the film isn't bad, but it is the very essence of predictability and that's not a good thing.
