WHO SAYS BAD THINGS ARE BAD?

Pros: DIAZ WAS HYSTERICAL

Cons: ......

Ranking right up there with Fargo (hmmm, how did I miss reviewing that?), Wild Things and Julian Po, Very Bad Things is a trip into the dark but slightly funny side of life.

Christian Slater is just a little demented in this farce on how bad a bachelor party can get. Not that anyone intended for anything to go wrong but throw together sex, drugs and horny men and you generally have a problem. Maybe a little too dark for some and definitely not for the kiddies Very Bad Things just gave me further proof that men are not supposed to go around in packs.

A hysterical (ok, so I am demented as well) fight scene between Jeanne Tripplehorn (Lois Berkow) and Jeremy Piven (Michael Berkow) where she totally kicks butt. And honey, Cameron Diaz is the star of the show as the bride that WILL NOT be left at the altar. Kinda fun to see her drop that scrubbed girl persona and slip into the gutter with the rest of us.

As in Julian Po, Slater runs the gambit of mental problems (am I seeing a pattern here?) Starting as a guy just trying to do a favor for a buddy to knocking off security guards. Reminiscent of Fargo in its' dark humor, Very Bad Things tosses in dead hookers, chain saws, reconstructing body parts (a puzzle I don't want), crotch biting (yes, crotch biting guys so cringe now), sibling rivalry gone bad and one wicked coat rack. Just a bunch of guys on a junket to Vegas.

Was there a message or any redeeming qualities in this movie? Probably not other than the fact that above all friendship rules and whatever you do - don't pi$$ off the bride!

Stars: Jon Favreau, Leland Orser, Cameron Diaz, Christian Slater, Jeremy Piven, Daniel Stern, Jeane Tipplehorn and Russell McKenzie as the security guard.
