Zoolander, what can I say about Zoolander? Well, for starters, it's an incredibly fun movie that even if you try to dislike it, you can't. Another thing about it is that it is definitely an acquired taste. No matter how much I try to convince people that Zoolander is an awesome movie, some just won't believe me, and I can accept that, even if i don't personally agree.

For those of you who don't know, Zoolander is a movie about male models Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) and Hansel (Owen Wilson). Both of them are thick as bricks, but they're incredibly lovable anyways. Hansel's career is blossoming and Derek's is winding down. Matilda Jeffries (Christine Taylor) is a reporter that writes a rather unflattering article about Derek which forces him into retirement. He is quickly brought out of retirement when Jacobim Mugatu (Will Ferrell) wants him for a new campaign.

Little does Derek know, Mugatu wants to hypnotize Derek to off the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Why, do you ask? The new PM promised to abolish child labour, which Mugatu is dependent upon because it's cheap. Why male models, do you ask? Well, according to David Duchovny's character:

1. They're in peak physical condition
2. They can gain access to the most secure places on earth
3. Models don't think for themselves, they do as their told

This all goes down at Mugatu's Derelicte fashion show, and I won't tell you what happens, so you're just going to have to rent it if you don't know. What originally starts as a one-joke premise twists into an interesting story about political assassinations and murder mystery. It still keeps its funny tone, but the assassination stuff works well into the plot, while also incorporating romance into the plot (between Zoolander and Jeffries).

The acting is absolutely wonderful. Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Will Ferrell not only give great performances, but their characters were likeable and hilarious at the same time. Christine Taylor also did well, and her character served more purpose than just stick-in-the-mud and love interest. Sure she is kind of a stick-in-the-mud, but I actually like her character and she's actually interesting and has a backstory and whatnot. Accolades should also go out to Milla Jovovich and Jerry Stiller. Jerry Stiller is just so much of a powerhouse comedian that he can even make a small supporting role like Maury Ballstein so hilarious.

If you haven't seen this movie, it's definitely worth a rental. I know it's an acquired taste, but it's absolutely hilarious. The three men I mentioned in the previous paragraph just made the movie so much more awesome and I probably wouldn't like it if they had cast other people as Derek, Hansel, and Mugatu. Some parts of it are dumb, definitely, but the funny moments outweigh the dumb moments and it makes for one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.

I'm almost completely unashamed to say that I own a copy of this flick. Granted I only paid $2 for it but that's beside the point. I really love Own Wilson in this and Billy Zane's cameo is cute. My favorite part is the Walk Off between Zoolander and Hansel. I could watch that a couple of times a week.

With preening self-importance and pouty narcissism already baked into the industry's DNA - torturing couture fashion almost certainly lacks good sportsmanship. Fashion has always been a satirists Piñata party so I was pleased that Zoolander went well beyond the clichéd "dumb model" premise to focus on the countless small affectations that make fashionistas well, fashionistas.      From the first scene where the shadowed, dimly recognizable outlines …

Possibly my favorite Ben Stiller movie. Some of the best one liners come from this movie and if you don't know anything about fashion...you'll still love it

Stupidly funny, Ben Stiller takes us into the cut-throat world of male modeling. Will Ferrell plays an amazing villain.

Campy done well. Ben Stiller and cast do an excellent job in this parody of the fashion industry.
