The World is a Circus

From what's been happening in the last 2 years, one would have to agree the world is a circus. To take life seriously would be to not align oneself to this crazy world we now live in. But if one could take the circus world as proficiently and professionally as Cirque du Soleil has taken it to its heights, then one would be doing quite well!

I first came into the world of the circus when I was a child. The Russians and the Chinese were great in this. But over the years, this type of entertainment seemed to be taken over by a Canadian company based in Montreal. The world of circus and acrobatics had since changed. The new formula for success is not how big or many the animals are but how fast and high the acts are getting. It's reached new heights since!

Cirque du Soleil has established the game plan and is dictating the rules. Tickets come at prices above $100 easily and yet the crowds gather. Asia, Europe, North America... they are everywhere. There's a new show almost every year and the best are all in Las Vegas. Like it or not, they are here to stay.

I've had my fair share of them and I must admit I do enjoy them all. Alegria, Dralion, Mystere, Saltimbanco, O, etc, etc...  What's memorable? Songs, music, acts, colors, costumes, stage, anything that appeals to the senses, Cirque du Soleil shows have them all.

Cirque du Soleil is an act; an act of defiance, professionalism, showmanship. It appeals to human nature for wanting to be the best, the most courageous, the defying gravity factor, at times the impossible. The company does it well and it sells for want of a better word.

I've yet to catch a Cirque du Soleil show, but these reviews do make them sound enticing!  Have you checked out @kevinism's review of Kooza?  That looks fun, too.  Thanks for sharing! :)

No, I haven't seen Kooza. You must go see O & Le Reve the next time you're in Vegas. They are the best!

Lots of stuff this morning on Guy Laliberté blasting off in a Soyuz rocket from the Russian space base in Kazkistan headed for the International Space Station. The high-flying founder of the Cirque du Soleil paid a reported $35 million for the privilege which he is touting also as a major event whose aim is to publicize the need for safe drinking water around the world. His One Drop foundation is organizing a day long, worldwide poetry reading/media hullabaloo on October 9. The foundation’s …
