Rest In Peace

I was absolutely shocked by the news late last night about the passing of Nate Dogg. I was worried that it was a hoax since there were rumors in 2008 that he had passed after his 2nd stroke but it looks like this time it's for real even though I was annoyed that even big time sites that reported the news had grammatical errors.

But back to Nate Dogg, I really wish i would have written a review about him before his passing because I, along with the people on the west coast who listened to hip-hop in the 90's remember him well. He wasn't a rapper and wasn't the conventional singer but he always fit his hooks perfectly into every track he was on.

Most people probably remember him with Warren G for Regulators which was a huge hit that still gets radio play periodically. I remember I was excited when he dropped the single, "Never Leave Me Alone", I went out and bought it and had it on repeat for a week. Then there was a period in the early 2000's when he was seemingly doing the hooks for every artist and I loved it. Once that trend stopped it felt like there was no reason to ever turn on the radio as the quality of the music decline drastically.

I could really go on and on about Nate Dogg and his music but one thing I'll definitely remember him for was his appearance on The Weakest Link along with other hip-hop artists. A classic.

Rest in peace Nathaniel D. Hale.
