Why not just kill me?

I beg to differ with the whole "21.5 million people can't be wrong" thing.   That said, just because 21.5 million people watched this on YouTube doesn't mean they LIKED it.  I mean, people stop at car wrecks too, you know.

Frankly I don't see the point in reviewing a viral video, but this is so horrifically bad I had to put my two cents in.  After the first four seconds of this abomination, during which I thought "boy, that's not how I though he'd sound", all I wanted was for this interminable and unimaginative masturbation session to end.

The only reason that I can think of that Chocolate Rain was made is that it's a plot to cause mass suicide among YouTube viewers.  It's that bad.  So why not a negative 5?  Because this just can't be taken seriously enough to earn that shitty a rating, and I like to reserve those sorts of extreme negatives for people like David Archuletta.

What did you think of this review?

Finally, someone else who isn't afraid to express their dislike (or in your case, disgust) for Chocolate Rain. And you're right, people stop and stare at people falling down stairs, getting in a car accident, or getting ill on a sidewalk, so just because so many people have seen this video doesn't necessarily mean they enjoyed it. Any other YouTube fads you don't care for?

Glad you agree. Actually, I don't YouTube that much as it feels like I'm busy all the time. And really, so much of it is idiotic. But I'm always happy to write a snarky comment or two about anything - just check out my blog if you don't believe me....which reminds me - just how do snarky/funny reviews go over here? For example, I wrote a long review of Friedman's last book, but I never read it. Kind of hard to explain actually if you don't read it (my review that is), but I got a lot of great feedback about it. So does stuff like that go over like a lead balloon, or do people appreciate it for what it is (and should I just keep them on my blog)?

You know, the Lunch community is definitely organic and self-regulating, so we're all free to voice our opinions and perspectives. I took a look at your Friedman review and thought your ideas could be used for a review of the data point for Friedman himself, not a particular book. What do you think? You can certainly import it, but just perhaps tone down the language to make it more "family friendly," haha! Let me know if you have any other ideas or questions. I'd love to hear 'em!

Right...forgot I had a potty mouth. I like the idea of it being a review of Friedman though. Do you work for lunch.com?

Yup, I'm an Ambassador, here to answer any questions you may have and listen to suggestions and ideas. And when you finish your Friedman review, I'd love to read it, so just send me a link! :-)

I was actually quite upset with the person who originally told me to watch this horrible video. I found it to be demented in a very unfunny way. His vocals sounded like there was a huge tumor in his throat battling his vocal cords and tongue. His mouth grimaced most unattractively. The final blow, the very worst part of it all, is that it created an Earworm that was determined to stay until I went completely mental. Miraculously, I recovered. Now 6 months later the community that claimed …

Choc
21.5 million people can't be all wrong!  This is one of the most popular videos ever posted on YouTube and with very good reason.  The eccentric, Spartan nature of the video initially grabs your attention, but it is the hook and beat that keeps you watching.  After a few watches you start to wonder what "chocolate rain" is referring to.    I am not going to put a spoiler in this review, but suffice to say Tay Zonday is making a social statement with this song and …

I really, really don't get this "phenonenom." It's barely funny and totally uncreative. Chocolate rain? Seriously? I just can't believe this guy got to go on the late night talk show circuit and received overnight fame for this.     His other songs are even worse.

The first time I watched Chocolate Rain (at the insistance of my BFF), I braced for what I thought must be the inevitable witch scare. You know- that scary screaming witch thing that pops up in 80% of viral videos that have you concentrating. Then I realized it was unneeded. Dispite the genius of the lyrics, that voice and the robotic non-activity on the screen scared the crap out of me. I went to bed and couldn't get it out of my head. I woke up sure Tay was in my closet ready to drown me in chocolate. …
