My Funky Valentine is the name of the fifteenth episode of the series Modern Family' season 1. It premiered on American Broadcasting Company.
Plot
Phil and Claire decide instead of the usual date to have do a little role play which turns into a disaster when Claire gets her coat stuck in the escelator, with no clothes on underneath. Mitchell and Cameron break their valentine date, because Mitchell has a case. The case doesn't work so well when the client wants to settle. Manny goes to Mitchell and Cameron's house and tells them that she wrote a Valentine for another girl, but someone else took the credit. So they go to the restaurant and Manny confronts them. Mitchell then defends manny by using the speech he was going to use from the case which makes Cameron happy. Unfortuenatly, the girl still likes the other man , because he says had the feelings, but didn't know how to express them. Meanwhile, Jay and Gloria go to a Comedy club where David Brenner is performing. David starts insulting Jay's age which makes him angry so he leaves and Gloria comes to comfort him. They find Phil and Claire with Claire still stuck in the escelator. So Gloria helps Claire out and then Jay and Gloria go Salsa dancing and Phil and Claire go upstaires into thier hotel room.
Cutural references
The title is a reference to the song My Funny Valentine. Jay mentions David Brenner was a frequent guest on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.
