Food was mediocre, but atmosphere and service was superb

This place is the best place to go if you want a quiet spot to enjoy meal.  It's very easy to find (two turns off the Coronado bridge) and parking is not too bad if you're having dinner late on weekday (not sure how things are on weekends.) The restaurant is small, so you won't have to worry about loud crowds and the atmosphere is very low stress.

I had dinner here last week on a Monday  and it was exactly what I needed. It was fancy enough to celebrate an occasion, yet chill enough to not worry about reservations, dressing up or breaking the bank. It plays the middle ground very nicely. The waiter (I think he's the only waiter, but I didn't  get his name) was extremely friendly and courteous -- probably half the experience. He made excellent recommendations on what to eat, and allowed us to even try a couple of the wines before we ordered. When we ordered dessert, he topped it off with a small amount of gelato, too...just enough to leave us leaving happy!

I would say that the food is all right. It's nothing to complain about, but it's nothing to really drive out for, either. If you're in the area and there is something to celebrate, this place would be perfect. Otherwise, save it. The prices are decent though, and I didn't feel like I was ripped off.

If you do go, I highly recommend sitting outside. They have a nice patio with good heaters that make a summer dinner worth it. I also recommend their canolis.

If you're on a date, don't forget to check out the San Diego skyline from the Coronado shore. Just walk left after you exit the restaurant, cross the street. There is a nice area that people hang out and take pictures...great view!

Oh, that's disappointing, but at least the service was good.  Since almost every job that I've ever had has been very focused on customer service, I'm a schmuck for great customer service even if the product isn't great.  Just curious... what's that dessert that they topped with gelato? :D
