I have been going to Timeland to get my watch batteries replaced for at least 10 years - and not just because they're located two doors down from The Bigg Chill and across the street from Poquito Mas (though that surely helps). I discovered this place back when I was racing road bikes, and if you wanted a new battery for your Polar heart rate monitor, Polar's suggestion was to send the watch in for repair. And wait. And wait. And wait.
One day at lunch, I popped my head into Timeland with my dying Polar - "Can you guys replace the battery in this?" The woman behind the counter turned the watch over in her hand, examined the back, and looked up at me. "Yes. Eight dollars." And the could check after replacement to make sure the waterproof seal was still working. Sold.
I still take that Polar watch to them for new batteries. But today I had three other watches - my various "dress" watches - all either dead or broken. And I had to run to a meeting. So I dropped the watches off, explaining what was wrong with the truly broken one, left my name and number and ran off to the meeting.
The meeting ran long, and I forgot to stop off and collect my timepieces. So I called - new batteries in two of the watches ($8 and $10) and a repair on the third, which required the mechanic to take the watch apart, re-align and screw down a loose piece, and put it all back together. $10. When I go to pick up my bounty tomorrow, I'll have three gloriously functioning watches for less than $30.
Maybe to you, it's just a discount watch shop, but to me, this place is heaven.
