I rarely give restaurants five star ratings! So this is a big deal. I highly recommend checking out Tupelo Junction Cafe out in Santa Barbara. This place will make any morning great, no matter what the night before had in store. I hit this place up after a long few days of camping at the nearby Lake Cachuma and the meal I had there was a great bring-me-back to reality.
The prices are a bit steep, not your hole in the wall breakfast. The place takes on the look of a higher end cafe, but after reading other reviews on it -- it seems as if this place had the best breakfast in Santa Barbara.
The restaurant is in a good little spot in Santa Barbara's State Street, so its perfect if you're coming into town or just about to be leaving -- since there are some nice shops and photo opps to take advantage of in historical/downtown SB. Parking is super easy, too -- just park in the rear lot opposite of the restaurant.
Service at Tupelo was great, couldn't complain. But the food was delicious. I highly recommend the crab cake with potatoes, poached egg and avocado salsa. It's the most expensive thing on the breakfast menu ($17) -- but you won't regret it. Trust me, if you don't get it, you'll be eating your egg sandwich as you watch every other come out of the kitchen showing out the crab cake that could have been yours.
Now, as good as the crab cake is, it can naturally get a bit salty by the time you finish it up -- so I highly recommend getting the vanilla dipped french toast. This is just as high up there with the crab cake! It's not as filling, but it'll be a great two plates to share if you're coming with somebody. My girlfriend and I were so amazed with what we were eating, that we were purposely taking as long as we could to finish our food.
If you're out in SB, don' t miss out on this, seriously.
