I had heard so much about Umami Burger over the past few months and I felt like I was the only one who hasn't been there yet out of everyone I know but I finally got a chance to try it. I did have pretty high expectations based on what I've heard. I mean come on, they even have their own music video...
I ended up ordering the pork burger which was good but I didn't think it was 10+ dollars good. However, I did try some of the truffle burger and I thought that was what I should have ordered (next time if there is a next time).
The fries were good but nothing out of the ordinary and i did enjoy the onion rings.
I also tried the kimchi steak salad which was good but not worth the price.
I think anyone who doesn't mind spending a little more for gourmet hamburgers and fries would like this place. I recommend not bringing the kids because my nephews (age 5 and 11) weren't crazy about it, they'd rather have Mcdonald's.
As for the location, the Santa Monica location parking is a hassle, the place is kind of small and if you want to sit outdoors, make sure it's 70+ degrees out because the wind makes the outdoor heaters useless.
The umami burger, which is suppossed to impact all your senses, and has been deemed the best burger that she ever ate by Giada de Laurentis, was a very tasty, but not great burger. The great item on the menu, however, was the tempura onion rings. The best I ever had!
I love basketball, exercise, reading, business, movies and occasionally some brainless reality TV shows =P I am more than happy to help anyone out with anything here on Lunch and definitely looking forward … more
