I really, really, loathe Joe Scarborough. There. I said it. And if he catches wind of this, he'll probably blog about how I'm one of those annoying liberals who can dish it out but can't take it. Believe me, Joe - I've been "taking it" in the you-know-where for eight years. Now it's your turn. I should be able to easily ignore his morning program, "Morning Joe," but....
Here's my problem – I just can't quit him. I hate him, but "Morning Joe" has got one of the best booking agents ever. And even if the vast majority of them sleep on the couch in MSNBC's green room, ready to be a stand-in pundit for any of MSNBC's lineup, I like them. Jonathan Capeheart, Jonathan Alter, Mika's dad Zbig, David Axelrod, and on and on and on. Hell, I even enjoyed Terry McAuliffe over the summer in the last throes of the Clinton campaign. What's better than watching a high level political operative get his drink on with Mika B.? (Well, lots of things, yes. But we're talking TV news here.)
For the many, many faults of Joe (overtalking his guests, contradicting himself on a regular basis, coming off as a self-righteous blowhard 99 percent of the time, diminishing Mika with vodka and Ambien jokes...) the show offers what I think is a halfway balanced political perspective. And there's always a chance I'm going to get to hear Pat Buchanan say something so bats**t crazy that makes me laugh so hard Lucky Charms will come out of my nose.
It's either this, or 12 hours of Today. You choose.
