Barack's acceptance speech was one of his shorter ones during his campaign. I had noticed a lot of media brought this point up afterwards. I personally thought it was one of of his better ones. There was a time during his campaign where I kind of grew sick of his speeches. They began to seem repetitive, not to mention the fact that it always sounded to me like he was yelling. He was calm, collective, and reflective during this. I mean, any human can see why. He was no longer anxious. He did it. He won. His sincerity and humbleness showed when he said  "I was never the likeliest candidate for this office." All in all, a great speech from new President-elect.

Great thoughts! I am neither pro or anti Obama, but would love to know what you think about him and his acceptance speech now, in August '09! Just curious, what your impression is now that this time has passed and there is a pretty clear picture of what it is like to have him as president. So for the first time in many years, I was excited about Election Night. Working in the media with a background in politics you all may be thinking that of course, I'd be excited...I'm a political geek. But truly I am not. I don't watch Sunday morning talk shows and flip the channel when talk turns to certain political problems in Washington. That stuff just doesn't interest me.    But these past two years I must say has been different. Now no doubt, I, like every other …

Text of Democrat Barack Obama's speech in Chicago, IL on Novemeber 4, 2008 after winning the presidential election, as transcribed by CQ Transcriptions:

OBAMA: Hello, Chicago.

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

It's the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen, by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different, that their voices could be that difference.

It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled. Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been just a collection of individuals or a collection of red states and blue states.

We are, and always will be, the United States of America.

It's the answer that led those who've been told for so long by so many to be cynical and fearful and doubtful about what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day.

It's been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this date in this election at this defining moment change has come to America.

A little bit earlier...
