Good but not great

After reading a number of negative reviews, I was hesitant to install Acronis' True Image Home 2010. However, having suffered the horror of not having data backed up, I decided to give it the test.

Installation was smooth on my XP Home, SP3 Dell Dimension 5150. (I recommend not selecting the bootable disk option.) Pluses for True Image Home 2010: easy and fast backup and recovery and a friendly, Windows style user interface, also continuous data protection. Additionally, the Try and Buy allows you to backup incrementally which is perfect for anyone visiting a malicious site and needing to back up to a point just minutes prior to the visit.

Cons: Charges occur for support and online backup, some difficulty registering the key number.

What's in the box?
Bootable CD
One page instruction sheet
Flyer for Acronis Backup advertising their pay-per-incident covrage.

Overall I would say the product is decent, just not great. If you already have a backup feature on your computer, I don't see any advantage to installing Acronis True Image Home 2010.

I have two backup jobs, one for each of the two disks, that run alternate days. They do incremental backups to a NAS (Network Attached Storage) box in my basement. After the initial backup, each incremental job runs …

Trying to make a long story short, my netbook just didn't like this. It installed well enough, but proved to be such a memory hog that I uninstalled after a month.    I wanted it to work, but it didn't.
