Decent, Inexpensive iPad Keyboard

I really like Apple's Bluetooth keyboard, and use it as the default keyboard with my Mac Mini. However, I also own an iPad and MacBook Air, and would like to have another keyboard for use with those devices. I didn't want to shell out another $70 for what would have been only an occasional use, so I was looking for a much more affordable alternative. I came across this Anker keyboard, and it seemed like the ideal product for my needs. However, it was a huge disappointment with my MacBook Air, although it has proven to be adequate with my iPad.

From the get-go I had the hardest time pairing this keyboard with my MacBook Air. I had to repeatedly fiddle with system settings, and it took me many trial and errors to get it working right. However, even when I finally managed to pair it up properly, the connection would get lost just after a very brief interval of idleness. It was definitely a very disappointing experience, and for all practical purposes made this keyboard unusable with my computer.

I had a much better experience with my first generation iPad. I was able to quickly pair up, pairing would be persistent, and the keyboard would reconnect quickly from the standby mode.

When it comes to the actual keyboard quality, I was also a bit disappointed. The keyboard is definitely not comparable with the Apple's keyboard in any respect. It looks and feels cheaper, and the key action is pretty "soft." This would definitely not be my keyboard of choice for longer writing sessions.

I was in touch with customer support. They were reasonably quick to respond to my complaints, and they offered full refund if I wanted to return the keyboard. I decided to keep it though, since it will be a useful keyboard to have with my iPad. However, if you are considering using this keyboard with your Mac I would be very weary. Your experience might be better than mine, but I personally wouldn't take the risk.
