Pros: Fast load time with web connectivity Excellent graphics and quality Clear phone reception
Cons: Wish it had a holder. Screen could easily get scratched.
The Bottom Line: Apple does it again! Apple goes overboard providing the best smart phone on the market.
I've been a loyal Blackberry user for several years. My contract was up and I thought a lot about if I would upgrade to another Blackberry or go with Apple. Hmmm...
Blackberry is the best smart phone in terms of typing. I type a lot of emails back and forth through the day. I could type with my thumbs and it made the satisfying click sound every time I pushed the keys. I literally could type with my eyes closed. That being said, the screen on a Blackberry is way smaller, the graphics are very small, image quality was only so-so, and the overall product is feeling dated.
I Phone 4. Wow - as soon as I got my hands on this - it felt like the future. It is sleek, smooth and beautiful. The screen size is twice as big as my Blackberry and the graphics are very bright and vivid. As I am in my mid forties, I normally wear reading glasses but not with my I Phone. Apple calls this feature retina display and at 960 x 640 it is sharp. My screen is 3.5 inches.
I love how I can move the "features" around on the screen with my fingertips and how easy it was to get used to that concept. Just scrolling through my contacts with my fingers is amazing. Typing is a little more challenging as I don't get the finger prompts with a real keyboard. However, I am learning and type reasonably accurately on the virtual keyboard of the I Phone.
My web pages load very fast and the clarity! The camera takes photos at a high resolution and I like the fact that I can take pictures in front of me and looking at me. That is a very clever feature. The HD video capability is astonishing. I take lots of mini movies of my kids and email them to my family. This is such a treat. Take that Blackberry! The Apple Operating System handles all of these tasks with ease. My memory capacity and processing speed on the I Phone 4 are adequate for my business and recreation needs.
There has been much talk about dropped calls and the antenna. I have never experienced a dropped call. I live in a major metropolitan area so there are many towers all around. Thankfully, this has never been an issue. My nationwide phone calls are very clear.
The sheer number of applications to download is amazing. Way more than Blackberry and much easier too. I have downloaded many of the free apps and love them. I have grocery apps, parking apps, the CNN app, etc... They all make my IPhone more enjoyable and me more productive. There are many great paid apps but I could get carried away, so I don't add those. Downloads are very fast and they pop right up on my screen. It's easy to group my apps in folders too, I have better management when they are grouped.
I have not incorporated music into my I Phone, but it looks easy enough. Again, I am budget minded and for .99 a song, it could easily get pricey. However, you can listen to your music while you work on the Phone - nice.
My phone will hold a charge all day and I charge it up fully in a couple of hours. I have a phone charger in my car just in case I am running low on battery power. It's easy to charge, plug into the port on the bottom and the other end goes into my computer or a regular electrical socket. I have been forwarned not to over charge this phone as it will burn out the battery faster. So, I don't charge it up all night, just a few hours here and there and off I go.
Multi tasking is very nice. I can work on several applications at once by clicking the home button. This is one of the best features! I am more productive in a limited time environment.
The IPhone 4 delivers solid productivity with basic business such as email, contact lists, phone, Internet, calendar, notes, camera and then adds a whole lot more fun to the package, Apps, video phone, and video capture.
Apple has gone above and beyond expectations and delivers with this product. The IPhone 4 is clever, sophisticated, intuitive and did I mention Fun? I love this phone.
Goodbye Blackberry, it was fun while it lasted.
