Pros: The Pizzas, unlimited bread, unlimited salad during lunch, not too expensive
Cons: The service
When I was a freshman in college, I lived across the street from a little mall called 2000 Penn, in Washington DC. Inside this mall was an Italian restaurant named Bertucci's. Before going to The George Washington University (you can read my review on that), I had no idea what Bertucci's was. As a matter of fact, I had never even heard of it.
Let me tell you something: If there were a Bertucci's around while I was in high school on Long Island, I would have gone there as much as possible. Since 1994 (when I started college), a couple of Bertucci's have opened on Long Island. Sadly to say, I have yet to visit them.
Bertucci's is famous for their Brick Oven Pizzas, which always hit the spot. You can either order one of their special pizzas, such as the Sporkie, or create your own. My favorite is a creation my friend, Jennifer, came up with. It's a large pizza with ricotta and broccoli. Believe it or not, it is awesome!! You can get them in three sizes: Individual (pizzettas), Medium, and large.
Besides pizzas, Bertucci's has a great selegtion of other Italian dishes. Their panini sandwiches are fabulous. I highly recommend the sausage and pepper panini, while my sister likes the chicken. Of course, they have a wide array of pasta dishes, calzones, and salads. Their appetizers are pretty good, too. My friends and I always got the Bruschetta when we went there.
Lunchtime is the best time to go to Bertucci's. Besides the fresh baked rolls they always serve, you also get unlimited salad. You'll always wind up taking something home with you.
The service at the Bertucci's I went to left much to be desired. They were rude, unattentive, and forgetful. I complained to the manager, who then gave me an 800 number to call. A week after calling it, I wound up getting a $20 gift certificate in the mail. Apparently their service hasn't changed much. My sister goes to GW now, and frequents Bertucci's. someone actually hung up on her while she was trying to place an order. She marched herself down to Bertucci's and complained to a manager, and the man she spoke with on the phone actually yelled at her! Needless to say, she wound up with a free pizza that night.
