Makes 6-8 Pancakes--Really?

I just tried this product for the first time this morning. I hadn't made pancakes at home in years, and LOVED how easy this was--you just add 2/3 cup of cool water to the container, put the lid on and shake, and pour into the skillet. Since I call myself "The Lazy Chef" because I don't like things that take a long time to make or have a hundred ingredients, this was right up my alley!

With this product, it is possible to have pancakes on the table in no time! The question is--how many pancakes will you be serving? The front of the 5.1 oz. bottle says "Makes 6-8 Pancakes" on the front and, on the back, instructed me to make 4-inch pancakes. I made 2 pancakes and then, before making more, added a little more water to the container to make the batter thinner (as the instructions indicate). In total, I got 5 pancakes out of this bottle. Four of them were in the 4-5" inch diameter range and the last one was closer to 3 1/2-4" inches. I can't quite imagine how they expect someone to get 8 pancakes out of this bottle. YMMV.

The pancakes puffed up nice in the skillet and were nice and fluffy on the plate. They were quite light and tasted fine. They weren't incredible pancakes, but they were perfectly fine for me when I am in the mood for pancakes. I ate them with Smart Balance spread and some warmed Aunt Jemima syrup and enjoyed them. In fact, I made 2 pancakes and put the rest of the batter in the fridge for another day but liked the 2 pancakes enough to go make more.

I would keep a bottle in the pantry for when the mood for pancakes hits me. I had also thought it would be nice to make for house guests but that will only work only if there is only one house guest and he or she is not very hungry! Or I suppose I could buy the larger size bottle or buy multiple small ones.

Please note that I did not buy this from Amazon--I bought it in my local grocery store--therefore I cannot speak to the product purchase experience on Amazon. I did notice that they are offering this product on subscribe and save, so if you plan to buy it regularly, I'd definitely recommend ordering it through the Subscribe & Save program as it lowers the per-order cost of the product.

This sounds like a great idea for a quick meal.

It definitely is! You can be pouring pancakes into the skillet in 30 seconds and you dirty no mixing bowl or mixing implements. Just the skillet and the spatula. I love that part! hehe

This must be a tiny little bottle, but what a concept!

No, actually, it isn't what I'd call a tiny bottle. All it has in it is the Bisquick powder, but they had to allow room to add the water and then shake, which then increases the volume.

I've seen one that you just spray on the pan, but I wasn't sure how those were. I am a pancake sucker. Thanks for this!

You can't get much simpler than these--I call myself the Lazy Chef cuz I hate anything that takes a lot of prep, but these are ready to pour in the skillet 30 seconds after you take the container out of the pantry and, unlike the ready-made kind, this product requires no refrigeration (unless of course you don't use all the batter in one go).

Sounds yummy! I've seen the spray can pancake batter mix at Costco. They are very yummy and easy to use.

The trick is that you have to make Barbie-sized "dream" pancakes.

hahahaha...you got that right, Trekscribbler!
