CALCIUM :What Your Doctor Probably Won't Tell You

The Bottom Line: In a world inundated with misinformation, calcium supplements are falsely reputed for helping our bodies. There is a lot more to calcium than a supplement.

Attempting to write a short review on a topic that is very intricate and involved is quite a task. I normally would not even bother, however, I am becoming more and more concerned about the misinformation that is causing people to throw their lives away.

Calcium is one of those campaigns.


How many times have you seen your mother or grandmother pop a series of pills in her mouth, because "she has to get her calcium"? How many of you have purchased orange juice with calcium, just because you think you need it?

How many of you are taking calcium tablets to ward off the spectre of osteoporosis, thinking that you will enter old age with ease and safety?

Well, I have some bad news for you.

You are creating more of a problem than you are solving.


When the medical community does tests, they are like police solving a crime. There is a lot of pressure on them to find the perpetrator as quickly as possible. Funding and financing is often at a cost. There are people breathing down their necks and the world watches in tension as the "professionals" find a target for them to blame for the crime.

Wanting to provide that enemy with an identity, often they zero in on one thing. It could be a vitamin, mineral, or food. Once the identity is provided, the world resumes its lifestyle, breathing easily now that they can count the crime (disease or condition) solved and the villan caught.


Unfortunately, folks, it is not that easy. There are very intricate and finely balanced parts to everything we eat, digest and use in our bodies.

Habits, environments, choices and destructive behavior all affect our bodies whether we want to believe it or not.

When a person develops a disease, their bodies are calling for help. The things ingested are not providing the body with what it needs to operate successfully and it breaks down.

What kind of an idiot would put water in their cars gas tank and expect it to run? How stupid would that person look if they continually argued that there must be SOMETHING wrong with the car, refusing to take responsibility for their bad behavior?

We would laugh at a person doing such a silly thing, but every day, almost everyone we meet does that exact thing with their bodies. They complain about ailments, like they "suddenly appeared magically" and want the doctor to take responsibility for fixing the broken body. However, they keep putting water in the gas tank, expecting the car to run!!!!!


Calcium is good for our bodies. We need calcium. However, if there is not enough calcium in our bodies, then we are not eating and assimilating it from our foods.

Our bodies do not just operate on calcium. They were not designed to take a pill. They were designed to absorb calcium from the foods we eat IN CONJUNCTION WITH A SYMPHONY OF OTHER MINERALS AND VITAMINS.

Each mineral is needed at the time that it is ingested to process the other minerals that are ingested at the same time. If they are not all ingested together, then they will have to take those necessary minerals from the storage in the body to process with.

Therefore you create a shortage when you continue to take a single mineral repeatedly over time.

Let's put this in perspective here.


This is a rather simplistic example, but until I can think of another I will use this.

It is breakfast time.

You are in a hurry. You decide to have cereal and milk (although I do not recommend drinking milk, I use this simply to illustrate). You pour the cereal in the bowl and then you apply the milk.

At the end of the week, you need more cereal and milk. When you go to the store, you end up buying 2 boxes of cereal and no milk. Eventually, the milk you had will run out and you will be left with just cereal.

You can borrow from the neighbors for a short time, but that will only last so long. Eventually you will need to get more milk. However, if all you ever buy is cereal, you will never have the correct combination you need to eat for your breakfast.

Not the best example, but when I think of a better one, I will edit this.


Calcium is good for strong teeth and bones. It makes our hearts and muscles work correctly, and our nerves stay more stable. It aids in clotting and healing of our bodies. It helps us to sleep.

However, did you know that magnesium is actually what makes calcium work? Without magnesium, the bones can not get the calcium they need! Magnesium changes vitamin D by starting up an enzyme into motion to create new calcium crystals in the bone.

There have been studies done that prove that osteoporosis can be prevented with just magnesium! Women with abnormal levels of magnesium were discovered among those with fragile bones and osteoporosis. Women who had normal levels had strong bones, even at older ages.

Too much calcium (without magnesium to guide it) in the body can lead to arthritis or wrinkles. That is a condition known as calcinosis.

People who take calcium supplements alone still have high rates of osteoporosis, heart disease, hypertension, cancer, arteriosclorosis, and wrinkles. So, it appears, that this really does not help anything when taken alone!

Did you know that one of the highest epidemics showing up in older women is palsy type shaking? Know one cause of this? Magnesium deficiencies ignored while taking a calcium overdose.


Vitamin D deficiency is one cause of calcium not being absorbed. Vitamin D added to milk is a synthetic hormone, and not helpful to the human body. It actually helps deposit the calcium in the skin making it age faster.

Too much protein in the diet (aka animal protein) also causes calcium to leach from the bones , teeth and system)
Beans and whole grains will provide plenty of protein and they contain the right amounts of nutrients to PROCESS the calcium that you ingest.

Too much phosphorous will cause you to lose calcium. Again meat is high in phosphorous. Ideal ratio of calcium to phosphorous is 1 to 1. Soft drinks are high in phosphorous.

Ever wonder why people can break their arms just by throwing a baseball? I know a few people that have done that and their diet is loaded with soda pop and colas.

A few others worthy of mention that help the body to absorb calcium are: Vitamins A, B6, Folic Acid, C, K, and minerals manganese, zinc, copper, boron, and silica.


Here are some high calcium foods that you can eat.
maple syrup (dark)
japanese type seaweeds (dulse, kelp, hijiki etc)
sesame seeds (tahini is ground up sesame seeds)


I have tried mineral supplements over the years. None of them really helped or made me feel better. In fact, they can be toxic if taken too much.

A few years ago I had heard of a mineral solution that had all of the bad minerals titrated out (arsenic, and stuff like that). It also had B12 and Biotin. I heard miracle stories of this solution.

Finally I decided to try it.

Calcium is a very in-depth subject. I have attempted to give a good overview as to why I feel that no one should be taking CALCIUM. If taken in a solution of minerals that is balanced, it is a far different thing. There is a lot more on the topic of calcium and minerals to be said, but due to shortness of space, I limited my editorial to what I have written here.

Calcium is not a loner. No mineral or vitamin is. If you eat a natural diet rich with whole grains, beans, nuts, and produce, you stand a much better chance of having normal calcium levels than you ever will from a calcium supplement. If you eat a natural diet and live a healthy lifestyle, you will have a better chance of avoiding anything that a calcium supplment is falsely reported to prevent.
