Perfect blend of action adventure, murder mystery, horse racing and court-room drama

Dan Morgan doesn’t want to sell his horse. After all, part of why he bought the horse is the joy of seeing her run for him, the excitement of hoping she’ll win, the thrill of the unknown. But a million dollars is an awful lot of money and certainly tempts him.
Dan Morgan is a lawyer—not a high-powered high-priced lawyer living in the lap of luxury, but a struggling lawyer, working alone, who really can’t afford an extra day off. But somebody wants to buy his horse and seems willing to go to some extraordinary lengths. And Dan wants to know why.
Author Steve O’Brien blends horseracing and courtroom drama in this exciting mystery, pouring information so naturally onto the page that you’ll almost understand the bets and the judge’s diatribe. In the end, each step you take’s a gamble, whether on the horses, Wall Street, settling before trial, or on love. You play the odds, pick winners, and try to maneuver events to your favor. But how will buying a horse that might run second favor anyone?
Dan’s trainer thinks he’s worked out the scam. But will Dan catch his man before it’s too late? Will he win his case. And will his girl stay true to him? The stories blend convincingly. Clear arguments with genuine characters reveal the mysteries of racing. Scary bad guys slip the occasional clue. Timing is everything. The racecourse scenes make you feel like you’re really there. And Aly Dancer is just one beautiful horse!
From start to finish line, this is a cool, exciting book with neat explanations, good food for thought, a great feel for horses, and an excellent storyline.
