This is no Morgue Drawer

I have greatly enjoyed this author's three previous books in the Morgue Drawer series, so I looked forward to another interesting and amusing tale. This book, however, while being easy to read and enjoyable, did not rise to the level of the previous works. That is not to say that I didn't like the book, because I did, it's just that I felt there was something missing, but I can't put my finger on it.

The plot is interesting, concerning a young lady who's fired from her job and starts up a housekeeping business. All goes well until she finds a corpse in the house of one of her clients. That's when all of the twists and turns ensue, and the action is fairly frantic from that point.

There are some interesting characters, particularly her friend Troll, who I found captivating in a strange sort of way. There is a lot of maneuvering of the woman's car, which holds the corpse in its trunk, and her ideas of how and where to dispose of the body raise some interest. Of course, just when she has accomplished that task, she finds that she must retrieve the body!

Some of the incidents strain credibility, and I was hoping for more of the type of humor I found in the earlier books, but those things didn't keep me from liking the book, and reading it at a furious pace to see how it all turns out. It's a nice little book, and well worth your time.
