Spam the cat is a wonderful protagonist. Part wild, part tame, he lives in a glorious cat-filled household together with friends/family called Board, Byte, Alt, Escape and more, but you might have to read Spam vs the Vampire to learn more about them. Luckily there’s a very enjoyable excerpt included at the end the of Father Christmas—well worth the read. In Father Christmas Spam sets out to enjoy his first ever Christmas, and slowly learns the mysteries of a star that leads reindeer to mystical hay, and the strange stone statues of people decorating people’s lawns. This cats-eye view of faith and festivities is thoroughly enjoyable. From sneaky raccoon to over-confident, over-eager Tomcat with his harem of wives, this story’s a bundle of fun, and a thoroughly enjoyable treat even if it’s not Christmas. It’s a pretty short book, but don’t miss out on the extras at the end—they’ll hook you even more!
