Water tastes good but is slow to fill and filters need replaced every 50 gallons
Oct 4, 2011
I have used a variety of water filtration devices over the years. Everything from Refrigerator water filters to canister filters. The water from this Filtrete water pitcher tastes just as good as any other filtration device but I notice a little bit of plastic taste. It's not too bad but it's noticeable to me.
My major complaint is how slow this pitcher filters the water. They advertise it as a fast flow filter. Fast flow compared to what? I have never seen such a slow filter. The first couple times it took about 10 minutes to filter one pitcher. After using it for a while it got faster but it still takes a couple minutes. I don't like having to fill it a little and wait...fill it some more and wait. It may not be a big deal to you if you are used to using a pitcher like this but it's a bit of a hassle to me.
Another issue that I have is the cost per replacement filter is on the high side to me when you consider that each filter only cleans 50 gallons of water.
I like the pitcher design, it's slim and sturdy and made well. Overall this water pitcher gets the job done and the water tastes good but it's certainly not the easiest and most cost effective way to do so.

The Filtrete Water Pitcher uses revolutionary fast flow filtration technology to fill the pitcher with fresh, great-tasting water 3 times faster than traditional filtering pitchers and holds more water than traditional filtering pitchers that are the same size. The filter can treat up to 50-gallon (189 L) of water (about 1-1/2 months worth). Whether at home, college or at the office, the wait for great tasting water is over.
