Whoa.. Those are some Amazing Animals in that Fisher Price Barn
Mar 27, 2010
Pros: Aimed at infants, cute songs, cute animals
Cons: I still hear the songs
The Bottom Line: How many different barn toys can you get... Well the Fisher Price Amazing Animals Barn should be baby's starter farm set.
When my second guy was still an infant, my husband's boss was getting rid of a ton of baby toys. In the box he brought home was the Fisher Price Amazing Animals Musical Barn. Up until we received this barn I don't think I had even seen the Fisher Price Amazing Animals line (or there really wasn't much to it yet.) Basically the sets consist of chunky animals that in some sort play set. I will try to find the words to explain how much he loved this toy when we got it.
Oh what shall we do on the farm This set is obviously a barn/farm set, which is pretty simplistic in nature so it appeals best to older infants and young toddlers (6-18 months or so). The main play piece is a barn and barnyard that has a variety of activities on it. In the barnyard is a spinning corral, a garden, a chicken and a silly pig. Each of these is interactive and makes some sort of sound or plays music when activated. The corral is large enough for all the included animals and spins either by hand or using the plunger to the side. The barn itself has a few interactive features as well like a twirling windmill, and a chicken bead as well as some lights that go when the music is on.
My little guy loved spinning the corral a lot since usually the animals would fall over once it got going. He also really liked the music that played. Not to worry moms... the music does have two volumes, but they are the types of songs that get stuck in your head. I can still remember one of the main songs and it's probably been a year since we've have the toy out. Some Amazing AnimalsOf course you have to have animals with an Amazing Animal's set so this barn includes 3 chunky animals (Cow, Horse and Duck). Each one is approximately 2-3" tall (with the duck being slightly smaller) and are the perfect size for little hands. In addition to being cute animals, each has a head that moves and makes clicking noises. The duck is also a rattle. These were the hit of the entire set. My son and his little friend would carry the animals around everywhere.
Of course you can imagine the barn and it's plethora of noises runs on batteries. I believe it has 3 AA batteries which I see from online listings of the toy are included. I would say the toy received daily use from two toddlers for close to a 6 month time frame. I don't recall having to change the batteries at all in that time frame.
My son was probably around 9 months at the time we received the Amazing Animals Barn, which was perfect timing. He absolutely loved the music and the animals. With this next baby, I will make sure to get this toy out as soon as she can sit up so she can enjoy it.

A whirling wheel, a pop-up corncob, rattling animals, and a spinning barnyard make this toy endlessly fascinating for little hands, eyes, and ears. The Amazing Animals Musical Activity Barnyard is home to five familiar animals and lets your baby shake rattles, spin the barnyard, play sound effects, and sing along with three adorable songs. Every step of the way, your baby is learning and developing all-important dexterity.
