Pros: inexpensive, Handy Manny, just the right size for toddlers

Cons: only molded plastic, wheels don't move

The Bottom Line: Handy Manny not only fixes stuff, he helps build imagination.

My little guy has been a huge Handy Manny fan for a while now.  We first started getting a few of the toys around Christmas time when we got the Motorcycle and then moved on to the small play sets.  Z-Man really loved his Abuelito's Boat set so daddy picked up the Fix it Right Ice Cream Cart set to go with it.

The Fisher Price Handy Manny Fix it Right Ice Cream Cart set is a small set that also has a small price.  The Fix it Right sets rely on imagination and not electronics which is refreshing.  This set contains 2 figures (Manny and Mr. Lophart) and a plastic Ice Cream Cart.  The cart is blue molded plastic that has a flipping top - it only flips one way in order to "fix" it.  One side of the top shows the ice cream containers and cones.  The other side shows empty containers and melted ice cream, indicating it needs to be fixed.  The top feels spring loaded as well.  One draw back of the cart is it is completely molded plastic, including the wheels... meaning they do not roll at all.

Then here comes Manny to rescue the cart.  Manny and Mr. Lophart are small plastic figures (approximately 2").  I find them to be a good size for toddler hands to manipulate.  They are still small enough to need supervision for children who still mouth toys.  I have little concern with my boys (2 and 4) playing with these though.  Manny looks identical to the cartoon character and comes with Rusty the pipe wrench.  Nothing moves on the figures.  Mr. Lophart also looks just like the character all the way down to the really bad comb over.  Lophart holds a mega ice cream cone, which looks like it could tip at anytime perfectly depicting his nature.

When my boys actually take the time to play something other than superheroes, They will play with the figures fixing things around them.  The cart is really a by-product as they prefer to play with the boat instead.  For the inexpensive price (~$6) though this set was definitely worth it to watch Z-Man expand his imagination with the pieces.

That's a bummer about the wheels but, at least your boys are building imagination. Great review, Carrie, thanks!
