Pros: Pieces for toddlers, realistic sounds, textures, matching, storage

Cons: size

The Bottom Line: Farmer Jed runs an excellent Little People farm.

Due to how much the other grandchildren in our family loved Little People, it was inevitable that several gifts would end up being sets from the Little People Line.  For my first son's first birthday (now that's a mouthful), one of the absolute favorite gifts was the Fisher Price Little People Animal Sounds Playset.   It was a hit right away just for the barn and animals.

The Animal Sounds Playset is just that, a Fisher Price Little People barn that makes a variety of animal sounds.  Made of a sturdy plastic the barn has excellent sculpted details such as a rope coiled up on the floor.  Attached to the barn is a silo, which acts as either storage or a fun slide for the Little People, or any other figure that likes to slide.  In the hay loft rests a chicken that is on a slider.  When the slider is moved to the ends it plays either Old McDonald or chicken noises.  My son loved this part the most.  Both ends are open so if an Little People person is up there they fall out when the chicken is slid.   On the main floor of the barn is where the animals rest.  Each animal that is included has its own spot, marked by a picture, that makes realistic animal noises.  Honestly I didn't even realize that it made noise for about a month until I noticed the speaker on the floor of the barn.  That took the love to a new level.

Four animals are included, cow, horse, sheep and pig.  All of the animals are Little People shaped, measuring approximately 2-3" (except the pig who is a little smaller).  The pieces are the perfect size for toddler hands to hold.  Each animal features a special texture such as the horse's mane is string-like and the cow has a fluffy knoll.  Farmer Jed is also included to tend to all the animals.

For the past four years, the Fisher Price Animal Sounds set has been a primary play piece in our home. My 4 year old loves it still and his little brother does as well.  At first Little Man loved just touching the animals and playing with them.  Now, they have many adventures with the animals in and out of the barn.
