good tandem for the price but heavy.

  • Mar 10, 2010

If you have your heart set on a tandem that folds more compactly and has all the bells and whistles this may be the one for you. But be prepared, it is heavier than its sibling, the DuoGlider.
This stroller has all the Graco standards; storage basket, sunshades, reclining seats (front reclines partially, back reclines fully), accepts two Graco car seats, has cup holders, snack cup and Graco's one-hand gravity fold but this model has a bit more. The front seat is designed for a toddler and to reflect this, Graco did away with the front tray and instead put a cup holder and snack tray on either side of the armrests. If placing a car seat in the front seat a conversion bar is included. Also under the front seat is a cubby just the right size for a book, small toy and a snack.
The rear seat is set up a bit higher than the front but for decent visibility the front sunshade has to be removed.
The handlebar on this stroller is made much like some racing bikes with upright rubber covered handles. I was skeptical but it does make the stroller easier to turn. There is still space for your hands to fit horizontally as well.
The one hand gravity fold means that this stroller folds up to only an inch or two wider than the single model however it is much taller. This stroller will not stand on its own vertically like the Alano, instead it rests on all four wheels.
The front seat pad is more easily removed than in other Graco models but if you have to wash the rear seat be sure to grab a screwdriver just lie the single version.
This stroller is a great option for taller parents who really want a tandem but the weight can become tiresome.

If you get a chance, would you mind weighing it? What you do is weigh yourself. Then step off the scale, pick the beast up, and step back on. Then subtract your weight from the total, and voila! the true weight emerges! TY!
