Pros: lots of pieces, simple, fun clicks

Cons: no storage, barn is plain, lift doesn't stay put

The Bottom Line: click, click, neigh,
click ,click, oink
Keeps my little guy clicking along.

There must be something about farms because we has several farm sets in our house.  Amazingly most of them get played with on a regular basis.  One of the newest addition (Christmas 2009) was the Clickeroos Funky Farm and Tractor Set.  I had never seen or heard of this set before but my little guy's eyes lit up when he opened it up.

The Clickeroos Funky Farm is a simple set with tons of pieces everything plastic of course.  The main gist of the Clickeroos is that pretty much everything that moves clicks.  Each animal's head, for instance, clicks when it turns.

There is a thin barn with a wind mill, hay loft and bird that clicks.  The hay loft features a lift that sticks out and a hay bail.  The hay bale has been lost somewhere in our house and the lift doesn't ever stay in the barn like it should.  Two fence pieces are provided to enclose the animals.

To go with the barn are a host of animals and farm pieces.  Two cartoonish farmers work with a tractor and a wheel barrow.  (The tractor also has a wagon for moving the hay bale or animals around.)  The animals are also cartoonish and include: dog, cow, pig, chick, chicken and horse.  The animals are on the smaller side so they are best for those who won't mouth them.

When we first opened this particular farm, I thought for sure my little guy wouldn't get any use out of it.  Since then, he actually quite enjoys it.  The animals are his favorite of course and they get used in some of the other set we have as well.  I also had thought the pieces felt flimsy but they have held up to the rough play of my two guys (4 yrs and 2 yrs).  My biggest beef with this set is that there is absolutely no storage for all of those pieces.  I placed ours in a plastic container so they have somewhere to land when the toys do actually get picked up.

As far as I can tell this set runs about $25, which seems to be a fairly good value for the amount of pieces that are in the set.  This would be a great starter set for little farm lovers to encourage pretend play.
