Not the permanent solution I expected, but it does work.

Being barely 4'6" and having to drive with the car seat far forward to safely reach the accelerator/brake pedals, my neck being painfully chafed by the shoulder strap of my seatbelt is a problem with which I've long been accustomed, so I had high hopes that this product could offer some relief. Does it? Yes and no.
I expected a permanent solution--i.e., something that I would install once and then not have to fuss with every time I got in and out of the car; this is not that. Yes, the installation of the two parts of the strap adjuster over the lap portion of the seatbelt IS permanent (as permanent as a piece of plastic can be). However, it is necessary to re-insert the shoulder belt in the clip portion of the adjuster every single time I get in the car so, in that respect, it is not the solution for which I was hoping. That said, it does indeed give me some relief from the strap chafing my neck as long as I remember to re-insert the shoulder belt in the clip every time I get in the car.
A major safety weakness of the product is that, if the adjuster is not placed exactly in the right position once the shoulder belt has been inserted (as far toward the seatbelt buckle as possible), the adjuster pulls the lap portion of the belt up from its intended position (low around the hips). In a collision, the user then may sustain injuries they otherwise wouldn't have because of the lap belt not being in its proper position. Even with the adjuster placed close to the seatbelt buckle to help keep the lap belt from being pulled out of position, I'm not certain it would stay thatway in a collision. This concerns me greatly.
While assembly and installation of the strap adjuster is not all that complicated, the instructions made it sound like rocket science. I had to read them several times before I could even begin, yet when I assembled the second set (the package comes with 2 adjusters), it took me about 20 seconds. A non-engineer should be writing the instructions for regular people to understand!
Finally, the star rating for this product was a difficult decision. Did I have issues with the instructions? Yes. Do I have concerns about safety if the adjuster is not positioned correctly every time it is used? Yes. Is this the permanent solution I was hoping for? No. However...it DOES WORK. It IS giving me relief. So, while the review may sound more like 1 or 2 stars, I gave it 3 because it is actually giving me relief from being hurt by the shoulder strap. Whether the safety concerns will eventually bother me enough to UN-install the product, I don't know.
Just before buying these adjusters I'd picked up a pack made by Belkin. I found both to be adequate and can't say either has an edge. The Heininger actually stay attached to the belt between uses, which is a plus. But unsnapping them once properly attached can be tricky. When being used, these adjusters need to be slid to the side of a belt that is pulled tight and low across the lap...which is the proper way to use a belt anyway. If they aren't secured … more
