Dave Barry is one very funny guy ( and perhaps a bit demented). When he writes novels he goes all out to create some of the craziest situations and characters imaginable. This new book is no exception.
A nerdy type guy is getting married to a very spoiled and determined heiress, and the wedding is to take place in Miami. He has his Groom Posse (an amazing collection of strangeness) along with him, and is joined at the airport by his very frail (but hysterically funny) parents. A surly and directionally challenged cab driver leads our hapless hero and his friends into some extremely odd situations, and then the fun begins. There are lost suitcases, wallets, Russian prostitutes, a stripper and her pimp, Haitian refugees, overly enthusiastic bodyguards, a man with an albino python, and, of course, the orangutan. There are other characters, but if I listed all of them and their peculiarities, I could be typing for a very long time.
Needless to say, mayhem and hilarity ensue until the very end. I found myself laughing out loud, much to the annoyance of my long-suffering wife, who likes reading time to be quiet time. Take it from me, you'll howl with laughter at a lot of this book, and feel down when it's over because you want the merriment to go on ad infinitum.
