If You Adore Cool Nudes : HIP LIP GLOSS In ADORING 578

Pros: not sticky, stays put, excellent coverage, equivalent to high end

Cons: a bit pricey for drugstore

The Bottom Line: I was surprised at how wearable ADORING was for me. A lovely rose taupe brown color- makes a lovely cool nude lip.

I first tried ADORING when they were clearing out an overstock at our local CVS. It was not a color that I had been attracted to before, but since it was at a really good discount, I figured I would try it anyway.

When I applied it to my lips, I was in for a great surprise. HIP (High Intensity Pigment) LIP GLOSS in ADORING 578 is the exact color of my lips! The high coverages makes them look really nice and the color is pretty long lasting, so I don't have to constantly re-apply.

ADORING is a medium rose taupe color that has similar metallic shimmer in a bright rose gold as is in my favorite HIP lip gloss called PRECIOUS.

Although I often reach for PRECIOUS, ADORING gives a completely different look- more natural and not quite as golden.

ADORING lipgloss is part of the HIP line of cosmetics which is a subsidiary of L'OREAL company. They designed this line to be highly pigmented and a bit edgier than the usual L'Oreal cosmetics usually are.

The thought is that this line would be appropriate for women with darker skintones as well as lighter ones.

ADORING is in a tube with a rounded end. The tube is clear and you can see the color through it. The end is rounded with a small hole. When you squeeze the tube the product comes out and you smear it on your lips.

L'Oreal's site claims that this lipgloss has supercharged polymers which give it striking color. It has jojoba oil in it for lasting comfort and twice the pigmentation for intensity.

It comes in 14 shades.

The tube is .5fl oz/15 ml and the price is about $9 retail.

The cap on the end of the tube is the same color as the contents, making it easy when you want to find a color in your collection.

ADORING 578 (that is the number of the color) by HIP is a lovely rose taupe brown shade of gloss. It makes a perfect nude look for me- or anyone with rose/pink liptones. The fragrance is a citrus type fragrance and is not at all annoying. It is quite pleasant. There is no flavor.

The effect of wearing this gloss is moisturizing and conditioning for the lips. The color lasts quite a while before you have to reapply- at least an hour I have found. With ADORING, because the color is so close to my own lips, if it wears off some, it does not look bad at all, so I tend to only reapply every so often- like after an hour or so.

When I use lip liner with it, the effect is really lovely. I have a rose/brown shade liner from MAC called Beurre that I like with this gloss especially. Despite having similar metallic shimmer/glitter to PRECIOUS, ADORING is a more subtle, yet very rich finish to my lips. I like it a lot.

ADORING would work on best on those who can wear rose tones. Anyone with pinkish rose lips might do well with this color. I don't expect that anyone with warm complexions would do as well with this, but I have not tried this color on anyone warm as of this review. I usually reach for the other colors first.

HIP ADORING LIPGLOSS is a decent rose/nude type lip gloss that would be very useful especially if you like to do classy natural looks.

I am also impressed at the quality of the HIP gloss compared with many high end brands that I have tried. Despite its drug store availability, its performance equals or surpasses most other lip glosses I have used from many of the top lines of department store lip glosses. I highly recommend it.

It is not sticky, but is very smooth and thick, yet not annoying at all.

You can find out more about HIP products at this website- be patient, it is a bit tough to navigate.

You can also find HIP products at many drugstores like Rite Aid, CVS, and some grocery stores. You can also find it online at www.drugstore.com
