A perfect full-size keyboard option for your iPad...
Oct 13, 2013
Oh, yeah... this rocks! I got the Logitech Wired Keyboard with Lightning Connector for iPad 4/iPad mini via Amazon Vine, and it's the first iPad keyboard that I would see myself using if I had to write a report or article. Actually, this will probably get me using my iPad more than I currently do.
Most iPad keyboards are wireless connected by Bluetooth. I've had success with them, and they're good for what they're meant to do... be light and travel well. But the keyboard is usually smaller than normal, and the chiclet style keys take some getting used to. This Logitech keyboard goes in the opposite direction. It connects (via cable) to the iPad, avoiding the need to charge (and recharge) the keyboard. It's a full-size keyboard, with normal key spacing and a full complement of function keys. The tactile response is the same as you'd get from a regular keyboard, so I didn't find myself wondering if I had actually hit the right key or not. Like any new keyboard, there's a "learning curve" for your fingers to get the right placement and motion to get up to full speed. But the Logitech makes the process so much shorter than a typical wireless keyboard seems to take.
If I had to say anything "bad" about the keyboard, it would be that it's not as convenient to travel with as the wireless options. It's larger (duh!), thicker (also duh!), and somewhat heavier (tri-duh!) than its competition. Also, the wire means you have to be closer to the iPad and have it angled properly for optimum use. However, those things should be obvious because of what it is and how it's described. I don't consider those things as flaws or drawbacks. If I want a light keyboard and/or flexibility of distance from the iPad, I'd use one of my Bluetooth keyboards. But if I wanted to type something of any length or substance at anything resembling my normal typing speed, this would be my go-to option with no hesitation.
If you're looking for a "regular" keyboard to use with your iPad, try this one. I don't think you'll be disappointed in any way.
