The Logitech Wireless Keyboard & Mouse set is definitely on the right track. It gets a lot of things right. For starters, both the batteries for the keyboard and mouse are included and already inserted for you. All you have to do is pull some sticker tabs (that expose the contacts to the batteries) and you're ready to rock & roll. I love it when "batteries are included". I mean, nobody wants to run to the store to get batteries in order to start using their new 'toy'... right?
The Good: Other things I love about this set? It's completely 'plug & play' so anybody who's "technically challenged" can use this out of the box without having to worry about installing drivers... at least that's the case if you're using Window's 7, Window's Vista, or even XP. For reference, I'm using it with Window's 7 Ultimate. All the buttons (including the shortcut keys on this keyboard) work flawlessly. This includes shortcut buttons like the "calculator button", "Internet Brower", "Media Player control" buttons, and volume controls to name a few. This is quite handy. I also like the size of the keyboard. It's small enough to be portable, but it's still a full-sized keyboard so your hands still feel comfortable typing on it. I would've liked some sort of palm-rest though, but that's a minor gripe. Also, this keyboard and mouse use 2.4 Ghz radio technology and it responds lightning fast. I didn't feel any lag time at all. It's like using a normal keyboard and mouse. The mouse is an optical laser mouse, which is very responsive and very precise... even compared to other laser mice out there. Again, you'll swear that you're using a wired keyboard, the response time is that seamless and nimble.
The Bad (Room for improvement): The most major flaw in the design of this set, and the reason I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5... is the size of the mouse. I know that they made the mouse smaller to be more "portable", but it's just simply too small to be comfortable... unless you're a child or have exceedingly small hands. I consider my hands to be on the small scale, and the mouse still felt too small and cramped for me. It's a shame because if it were not for this one thing, this keyboard and mouse set would be nearly perfect. I think comfort and "ergonomics" is an increasingly important factor these days... with so many people using computers for hours on end. So, I think that it's very important to make sure companies design products that take 'ergonomics' into account. So, not only is the mouse too small but I feel that the 'shape' isn't very comfortable as well. If you are buying this set for children, this shouldn't be an issue. But any adult using this mouse will probably feel that it is too small and uncomfortable to use for more than an hour or so. Logitech, if you're listening... please include a larger mouse!
