Maclaren Quest the Best Car stroller on the Market!

  • Mar 10, 2010

For example: How easy is the fold? How compact?
Claims a one hand fold, which can be done (with a baby in your arm) if you have to, but so much easier not to! I always put my kids in the car before folding/unfolding my strollers!

It is very compact, Umbrella fold (so a thin long stick), fits in the back seat, where the kids legs would go in a pinch.

Or: Is this good for tall children? Tall parents?
ODS is 4YO w/ a Long Torso and he has room to grow. I'm 5ft2in & it's great for me. Think the XT would be better for a really tall person, though my dh 6ft 2in has pushed it with out complaining.

Or: is the recline deep enough for newborns?
I'd wait to use this stroller until at least 3-4 months, with a preference going to 5-6 months when a baby can sit up. But, I like little babes that can't sit on their own to be flat on their backs, or in a sling. So, it would work if you had to.

How heavy is it?
12lbs, I can lift it with one hand, no problem.

Is it better for indoors or out?
Perfect for Indoors. Works on paved grounds no problem. Gravel and/or Grass really not the best way to go, but if you had to on a rare occasion, you'd get there! Personally, I'd fold it & carry the stroller and make the LO walk, or carry him also!

Is the push one-handed? How is the steering?
It has Umbrella handles, but one handed pushing is not a problem. Steers as well as my Mountain Buggy & better than my 2006 P3.

Would you recommend it to your sister or friend?

Would you buy it again?
Yes, just replaced my 2007 for a 2009.

How user friendly is it?
Takes a few tries to learn how to quickly & easily learn how to fold it, but there are U-tube videos for that if you need them.

Any cool accessories that you like?
Rain cover comes with it. Can buy: drink holder  a Mosquito net if you want one. And, there is a bag for travel & bunting bag to keep your LOs legs warm.

Any features you really really like?
The weight, fold & push of the stroller

Any features you wish it had?
Sun cover, made by Maclaren, with the fabric Zooper uses for theirs! There are other brands of Sun covers available. WISH it had an option for the Sun Canopy the XT has!

It is also a bit tippy, if you hang things off the back, it will tip when your child gets out.

Anything really special about it?
Little, light & easy! Fits anywhere, in the car or in a store.

Yep, there has always been a Quest living in my car, for the past decade, lol! (although not the same one, of course!)

I disagree on the one handed push (but I'm usually on brick sidewalks and have a 40 lb. toddler in the stroller). I can't control this with one hand when my son is in it. I also don't like that reclining with a sleeping child is guaranteed to wake them since the recline isn't super smooth. I have a kid who'd rather be upright though. My son loved the expandable foot rest his first year and that's what cinched this being the one umbrella we tried that he didn't cry in (that was '07 though and there are other options on the market now I think). Overall I agree it's a good car stroller, but the small almost inaccessible basket and the spotty recline would make me hesitant to recommend it as anyone's one and only stroller.

Thanks! A review is never complete with out different views! Sure shows why there are so many different strollers! Everyone's needs are so different! We don't have any brick sidewalks here! Doesn't the Maclaren XT have a feature for brick sidewalks/cobble stones? And, my ODS 4YO (so rarely rides) is only 30lbs, I think that every 10lbs makes a difference w/ a stroller (especially on rough terrain w/ out rubber tires). Forgot all about the foot rest, Love that features! Totally agree w/ the recline, I actually prefer the way the Triumph reclines (w/ a strap), but it's not really deep enough to be that functional...And, the basket is so inaccessible (should be part of the review questions, I forgot about it all together) is so small even if it were accessible, you couldn't fit anything in it anyway! Totally agree, my favorite Car stroller! Think it was Stroller Queen that said it is not good for your One and Only stroller (IS there one that fits that bill!?)

Quest for Justice         The Shanghai Tang Quest is perfect for celebrating. Look at these festive colors! This is a beautiful pattern, very colorful, and very original.   At 13 pounds, with a decent recline and tiny fold, it is a great choice for quick trips or travel. The back pocket comes in handy, too.      And did I mention it comes with a matching boot? It was a good choice for our New Year's fun.   http://www.maclarenbaby.com/us/content …
