A romp that falls flat

This is not the book to give to an elderly aunt with a coronary condition... Moscow to Havana is a one man free-for-all helter- skelter romp that is both fun and enlightening but endlessly frustrating particularly towards the climactic ending. His long distance call for help to British banks is choice Goon Show style. Filled with colorful and frequently obscene expletives, prolonged paragraphs and Peculiar Use of Capitals in the Middle of a sentence is a style reminiscent of James Joyce's Ulysses. However these aspects are part of the color that adds realism to its pages. It reads as a private diary written in an intense Now consciousness and maintains a style that grips your attention, no matter how aloof you may be and once you are on board in Moscow there is a deep desire to see how this booze and drug-ridden individual survives. Among all the dark clouds of his pilgrimage, glimpses of blue sky reveal good philosophical thought. The excellent cartoon artwork by Oscar Zarate matches the tone of Steven Froelich's book exactly... Given time, this travel book may well become a cult classic. --Robert Egby Amazon.com review
