There's really no middle ground with this book; conservatives will embrace it and liberals will despise it. Although I recognized that from the beginning, I have tried to review this book as a book, rather than a political one trying to make a specific point: that the government is amassing too much power to itself and ignoring the real needs of its people.
The "good" guys are 100% true blue American heroes, who never say a bad word about their country, and who work diligently to bring the nation back from the brink of a disastrous potential takeover by the "villains", members of the government and its bureaucracy, and their allies in the press and big business.
There's a lot of action: car crashes, attempted murder, etc., that keeps the plot moving along at breakneck pace to the ultimate conclusion. It's almost a roman a clef novel, for politically involved people will study the "bad guys" closely to discern which actual people are disguised as characters in the book.
My problem with the book is that the "good" guys are flawless in their patriotism, and the "bad" guys are just that, bad to the bone. In addition, the book needs a good going over by an editor. I found grammatical mistakes, misuse of some words that should have been contractions, but weren't and some that should have been that weren't also. There's at least one instance of one of the major characters called by the wrong name. Those things brought down my star rating.
